Fun at Reptile Rally (with pics) Check this out!

I ended up going to Petco on Saturday and Sunday. Saturday me and my hubby took Yaddle (new name!) to Petco to have some fun at their Reptile Rally. There were a good amount of people there. There were about 6 or 7 beardies, 1 chameleon, 1 leopard gecko, 2 crested geckos and 1 tegu. The winner of the repile beauty contest was the chameleon. It really deserved it, it was sooo pretty!

Petco wanted a pic of everyone and their reptile. My hubby took one from my phone :mrgreen: I'm the short lady on the far left, lol :lol:

Of course they have the tanks loaded for the big sale of all their reptiles. There were 15 beardies in this tank.

I got to talk to about 4 different people about beardie care (my hubby did a great job helping me too :mrgreen: ) I stopped them from buying sand, mealworms, the wrong uvb, under the tank heater, and not to use the night heating bulb. One couple even wrote down this website, beautiful dragons, and petmountain down on a paper. They really didn't want to forget it. I feel so happy that we were able to help so many people Plus I think Yaddle loved getting a lot of attention. She is strutting around like she is queen of the house, lol.

Sunday we didn't take any pets because we wanted to go see a movie at the movies located next door. I was really curious about what critters were there that day so we popped in for a quick visit. We helped one couple out with the dos and donts. We notices that they had about 5 beardies left. And then something amazing caught my eye....... :shock: :shock: :shock:

We seen this big boy and I had to walk over with questions. Of course the first one was "is he a German Giant?" She said that she wasn't sure. She said that he is 8 years old and is 28"!!! Yes, that's right, 28"!!! :shock: :shock: :shock: He was HUGE!!! His head alone was bigger than the palm of my hand! And his colors were stunning!

If he's 28", then she must be over 6ft tall. He's a gourgous animal, and very well cared for, but he's not that long, no way. Certainly a big boy though!

its as big as her torso which mine at 5-9 is over 28 inches so i believe it could be. 28 is 4 over 2ft

You have a 28" torso and you're only 5'9"? I'm 6ft tall and my torso is barely 2ft. Body types differ, but usually not that much. I'll go on record...that's a big bearded dragon for sure, but I'm willing to bet substantial sums that he's more like 23-24". If for no other reason then the statistical probability of a women over 5'9" walking into Petco carrying a 28" bearded dragon. The women would be in the 90th percentile already, but the dragon...you're more likely to see a unicorn then a dragon that long.

Drgnfly, what is wrong with tank heaters? They don't get hot enough to burn and are good for no light night time heating.

Under-tank heaters CAN burn beardies cuz their heat sensors are on their head, not tummies.

That Chameleon is GORGEOUS! And what a big beardie that lady has! Glad you had fun! I didn't work mine, but my co-workers said there were maybe three ppl all weekend that came in for it. I figured it'd be dead. My store is kinda out of the way.

My beardie is 18" long and i would definitely give this one 10" over mine. He/She's HUGE! and beautiful!!!

Thanks for the comments everyone! It was funny because people were asking what she fed him and she told that she feeds him mealworms and supers. I was like well I guess I really can't tell those people not to feed mealworms, lol.

The lady was tall. She was a little taller than my husband and my hubby is 6' tall. I gotta say, I would love to see a unicorn...

Yeah, the beardie was laying on her...well um... "chest" region, lol. So the beardie is not straight and his head is laying down. He is actually longer that what he looks like in the pics.

Right, that's why heat rocks burn them.. A tank heater properly mounted under the tank shouldn't get too hot. I've read numerous care sheets that say no heat rocks but a UTH is fine.. lots of people on this site recommend them.
