Front Leg Issues

About two weeks ago I received a phone call from my vet - one of their clients had a bearded dragon they needed to rehome ASAP. I gave him a call and arranged to pick it up that same day.

The dragon, which is around 5-6 years old, is fairly small. I haven't gotten a weight on her yet, but she is definitely a bit smaller than my other female.

When I took her in, I noticed she did not have a UVB bulb. I set her up with a Reptisun 10.0, and started her on a minimum amount of time each day and gradually increased it over the past two weeks.

This evening I noticed her front paws are both turned in, and she's 'walking' on the side of them. I'm not exactly sure how to describe it. It reminds me of signs of MBD (which I went through with a gecko years ago - due to her inability to process powdered calcium), but I haven't seen it in a bearded dragon. I don't remember her having this when we got her, but I also haven't really paid that close attention to her since we brought her home - it's been a really stressful two weeks with work and other things.

Anyone have any thoughts on what could cause this? She's under UVB now, and was getting calcium and vitamin supplements (both with and without d3) with her old owner. She's been eating crickets, superworms, various greens and squash since coming to me.

Honestly, a vet visit isn't in the budget, or timing right now (couldn't get out to one until at least next week). The vet that called me, they don't deal with exotics, and she has very little experience with them.

I have started supplementing her with liquid calcium, which I've always got on hand. I believe I still have an anti-inflammatory from a previous vet visit, which I could give as well. Does anyone have any other suggestions? Her back paws look fine, just her front are turned.

There is nothing that tall in her tank - the tallest thing is maybe 5" from the ground, and I've never seen her go up there during my visits to the reptile room.

Recently someone posted pics of the same thing it turned out to be MBD there's not much you can really do besides keep giving the liquid calcium as you are maybe pm tracie as to what dosage and how often

Yea - that's what I was assuming, figured a second look would be a good idea. I'm going to treat it as that for now, and see if there is any improvement supplementing with liquid calcium. I'm hoping to avoid a vet visit - considering every exotic vet visit I've had has cost me $150+ each time.

Thankfully she is still moving around and eating, which is a saving grace for me. Our leo had lost a lot of weight and broke one of her rear legs just before she was diagnosed with MBD. We had to syringe feed carnivore care for almost a month before she started taking solid foods, and it was a good 3-4 months before she was back to herself.

Just going to second the thought that its MBD, unfortunately.

How is her appetite at the moment? Is she eating greens and insects like a healthy dragon? Or does she seem disinterested.

Does she seem fine besides the front leg issue?

She's not moving around like a normal dragon, but she does crawl. When I noticed her yesterday, I was putting in some fresh zucchini (first one out of our organic garden) and she ate that pretty quickly. Today she'll be getting greens and worms and we will see how that goes.

The only down fall about MBD is once they have it it cannot be reversed however it can be prevented from getting any worse. As long as she is eating and pooing then you are ok. What type of UVB is she under and how close can she get within?

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
Mirage entered brumation yesterday, I'm gonna miss hanging out with my little guy.
