Hello everyone, it seems our little native animal has become the craze of thing in the states to the point that there is more care sheets from the US than there is from Australia.

Anyway I would like to just say hello, I am not new to beardies, as I am to this forum. I have this big craze for reptiles and beginning a breeding program for my Australian pythons, and of course the dragons can have a little fun as well.

One thing I notice is that in the US the dragons are more focused on the colours they produce (yellow phase, orange phase, etc etc) which is slowly evolving over here, but in the past the dragons were usually kept outside in lizard pits next to the goana/monitor pit, which leaves them a dual grey colour, just kidding wouldnt put my dragons next to the lace monitor I am not that cruel. Actually the dragons are being kept inside as I am concentrating on the colours of them, I am striving to get a deep red phase, or and ash white and lavender phase.

Anyway I shouldnt take any more space here, actually the fingers are a bit tired from typing, as I have been in an email arguement with an Animal Rights activist about my actions of breeding rats for food for my pythons, Long long story

Hey there how you going?

You actually put my thoughts into words which is great! Re: more overseas info for our little lizards! I think it's great! I always thought Beardies didn't need much care as pets 'cos they come from here. Also, my brothers used to have a couple of blueys taken straight from the local paddock when we were kids (we're talking 25 odd years ago, so no panicking about permits guys!). They survived quite well in an old upturned cupboard! Who knew there was so much info out there? It's amazing that so many people so far away love, and care, and obsess (!) about our little natives!!

P.S. I'm new to this website AND reptiles, and if you can't tell already - AM LOVING IT!! :love10: Sarah.

Well hello a fellow aussie.....This sight seems to have a good amount of information and help, it doesnt matter how long you have had reptiles, there is always something new, interesteing or important to learn and it might make a better snake or lizard out of your pets

thank you, just wish there were more aussies too learn about how special their native animals can really be, sometime I think that people dont look deep enough into their own back yard to appreciate what is given to them. I am a snake owner, and as much as I would love a columbian red tail, I still wouldnt give my Olive python up for anything, he is so awesome and I can almost say he is loves people (though I know snakes dont hold emotions). But back on to the dragons, being a native animal to Australia, people seems to have just thought oh its just a lizard we used to catch as a kid, its nothing special. hmmmmmmm, well opinions are about to roll now, being a US sight, but to clear things up, I do consider them special,a nd actually consider them fun, my snakes dont have personality like the dragons do.

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
