Freedom has foot rot?

Hi all! I am currently looking at adopting a dragon who has foot rot. He/She has lost one of the front feet to the rot and one toe on the other. I was just wondering if there is anything I can do to stop it from spreading. The people who are caring for him are currently using iodine to treat it but haven't seen any improvement. It's a sure thing that he will at the very least drop the foot that he has lost but I want to try and stop it before he is completely three legged.

Is there anything I can do for him/her?

Hi there...can you post a pic of the foot ? Are they seeing a vet ? Sometimes unpasturized honey [ from health food store or a beekeeper ] works better than man made ointments....it's a natural antimicrobial, prohibits bacteria growth and promotes tissue granulation. You'd need to make sure that she isn't kept on loose substrate like sand or anything that would chafe /irritate it , and if using honey you have to be sure there are no loose crickets in the tank. I would give the honey a try.

Here is the best picture I could get: http://i345.photobucket.com/albums/p362/shadowbebe1992/Mobile%20Uploads/image_zpsddd6553c.jpg

It looks like she/he will probably lose up to her/his elbow from the picture.... It is REALLY dark. She's extremely small (just a LITTLE bigger than a hatchling and they're not sure how old she/he is. Considering there is a rotting stump at the end of one leg, this dragon has an incredible appetite and doesn't usually act like it's bothering her.

And no, she has not been to see a vet. She/he is in a pet store which is why they are just treating with iodine. She is also kept on reptile carpet which gets changed once a week.

Aw, a little sweetie, and if she's eating, she's a fighter, too ! When would you be getting her ? She does look a bit thin, probably doesn't get a whole lot of food at the store, and probably dehydrated. The sooner you can get her, the better. I'd start dripping water on her nose for extra hydration, as well as giving a soak every other day....then apply the honey daily after the bath. By the way, the wound would have been initially caused by a bite from a tank mate , then parts fall off leaving the dark area....so some pet stores call it foot rot. But again, if she's with other beardies at the store, she'll probably get bitten again. Hopefully she'll be in a new home soon. :)

I was told she was in a tank with six other beardies. Also, there is another dragon in the tank with her who was tail rot. The store refuses to sell her to be until the rot has stopped but I'm not sure when that will be. Until the store sells her to me, I can't take her to the vet....

Freedom dropped the rotting foot and part of the toe on the other foot that was rotting. Her arm (the one missing the foot) is swollen at the bottom (where it would normally attach to the foot). She's doing considerably well and should be ready to come home in a couple of weeks. (YAY!!!) The pet store has her with two other dragons who have tail rot in a 20 gallon tank. Because she is not very active, would it be better to keep her in a smaller tank until she gets bigger? When she is fed, she's having problems catching the crickets. Also, is there any basking platforms that would be best for her? She has crazy balance issues (I'm sure because of the missing foot) and I don't want her continuously falling off her basking platform when she goes to move.

I will post new pictures of her.... She's so SMALL!!

The day I was going to purchase Freedom and bring her/him home, I received a call that she/he had passed.

I also love the name Freedom and might be using it again in the future for a less fortunate dragon.

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
Mirage entered brumation yesterday, I'm gonna miss hanging out with my little guy.
