So i recently adopted a dragon, age is unknown, but he is at least 4 years.
This is my first dragon, so it's a learning experience. His previous owner said he ate meal worms twice a week, and occasional horn worms but didn't state how many at a time.
doesn't a horn worm go against the whole "no bigger than the gap between his eyes" rule...???

so here is his current diet for the past 3 weeks since i've had him
daily dark greens (kale and collards) as much as he wants, usually eats my small female palm full daily.
I mix in a different veggie every day, so one day shredded carrot, another day bell pepper, another day cherry tomato. and then every couple days i add fruits melon and strawberry so far.
I mist his food with water because i have yet to see him actually drink (but fresh water is provided)
He is awesome at eating his daily salad.

twice a week i've been giving him meal worms, I know now that this should not be the staple protein, so i'm going to hunt around the next town over and see all my feeding options, I will probably try to change it up every time so he gets a good rounded protein diet.
But today we are stuck with meal worms, so he eats about 10 in a session, twice a week.i'd say they are med size if i switch to phoenix or crickets or whatever, do you think 10 is too much or to little? when I find something healthier should i keep it to twice a week or more often?

what do you guys think??? :)

Here is a great site which shows you what fruit and veg is safe for beardies to eat, all the ones highlighted green can be fed daily as a staple veg. http://www.beautifuldragons.com/Nutrition.html

This is the feeding schedule I use for my adult beardies:

They get a Daily salad that consists of mainly Collard Greens, to this I add a few bearded dragon pellets and depending on what I have in I also add some of the following: grated Butternut Squash, Pak Choi, Endive, Mustard Greens, Dandelion Greens, Peppers, grated Parsnip, Kale.

Every other Day they get fed live food, approx 5 items of large prey (no bigger than the space betweek their eyes) this consists of: Locust, Crickets, Butterworms, Superworms and occasionally Silkworms.

Their live food is dusted with Repcal calcium with D3 2x then Repcal Herptivite 1x.

I also check my beardies weight regularly to ensure they are maintaining a healthy weight.

They should not be overweight but should have fat around the base of the tail and pads on the top of their head.

yes I have been going by that site for feeding, but i had also read that the older they are the less insects he will eat?

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
Mirage entered brumation yesterday, I'm gonna miss hanging out with my little guy.
