Food Problems

Hello everyone! My beardie is about 2 years old, and I have a problem with getting food for him. The only place near my house hasn't been selling reptile food for awhile (for unknown reasons, apparently) and I can't order online. I feed him greens daily, but I haven't been able to feed him live food for about 2 weeks. How bad is this for him? I feel really bad, but there's really not much I can do.

Do you have like a petco or walmart near you? I have found superworms at walmart before, and petco usually has that stuff. Or any fishing tackle places that have bait?

Why can't you order online?
OR do you know some one who could order for you?
They need protein.
I've never tried to get them a protein source from veggies. Beans of course are protein, not green beans but

legumes

. Do some searching online for nutritional values of legumes.
Soy beans are high protein, thats what a lot of vegetarians use for an alternative protein source.
You can buy them in the frozen section. Just follow the cooking directions. You will need to buy the ones not still in the outer bean skin, or you will need to remove the little beans from the outer bean skin or shell. The skin/shell not edible. The other name for them is

Edamame

If you can't find them at your local grocer, do you have a natural foods type store w/ groceries. Or last thought, a japenese/steak or sushi house where they are often on the menu. You could buy orders of them, or see if they'll sell them to you in larger amounts for a better price. They may not need to be cooked for them. I'm not totally sure. I would cook the absolute minimum time recommended on directions. i would check w/ other sources for food info. about this.
I don't know a reason the soy beans wouldn't be Ok .
But other beans I would check, As some animals have problems w/ the gas making properties of them.
Also a low sugar peanut butter might be better then nothing for some proteins. But its usually alot of sugar which is not good. If he will eat a few pea sized balls of peanut butter for now it might also be better then nothing. I say small peices so he won't get them caught in throat, or put a little w/ his veggies. He'll probably think its yummy anyway. Besides he might accidently get some bug protein that way too, ha ha since they're allowed a certain amount of bug parts etc.. in peanut butter anyway!
One last thought, at the vitamin store, again preferably a natural / organic type store see what forms of liquid or powdered proteins you can buy. Soy is in this form ,as well as other types of protein. I would prefer liquids usually for absorbability.
But you will need to make sure there aren't a bunch of other ingredients that are bad for him in it. So it will have to be pretty purely a protein formula w/ out extras. AND the You'll want to see what the actual protein sources are for what ever it is. How about a bait shop? Lots of bugs, or worms or fish even that will fit into his mouth! Hopefully someone else will chime in w/ some thoughts on this for you. G.......
