Hello everyone! I have a question about my friends beardie, I'll try to give you all the info that I can. I went over to visit my friends last night and as normal I had to say hi to Geemer. She is a 1 year old (?) female, no sand, fed supers and greens. I've been trying to give them all of my beardie knowledge to them to help them out along the way. Well, after I seen her we went to the livingroom to hang out (she stayed in her viv) and I heard a weird noise coming from her. I asked them what that noise was and they said that's Geemer. They said that lately (couple of days now) she has been making that noise and her mouth would get a white foam on it. So after they wipe the foam off of her mouth they would give her a waxworm.

Everything has been normal and alright. I asked her about anything that has changed in the viv or weird happening and she said that the only thing was the a/c going out in the house. If she was home and the a/c went out she could hit the reset button and the air would pop on. BUT when she was at work if the a/c stopped she could do anything by the time she got home. By the time she got home she said that the house was hot. We live in Florida and the temps are around 95 degrees on top of that we have really high humidity. Plus the heat lamp would be on too of course.

I have never ran across this before and was trying to find anything that seemed related on here but couldn't find anything :study: . I told them that I have heard of a respiratory infection and about the antibiotics (if it is really an infection) They wondered if that can just "go away". Geemer is still eating and pooping like normal they said. So I am lost... :|

Please help!!! :(

sounds like a respiratory infection foamy mouth can be a sign of it they should take the beardie to the vet also humidity isnt good for the beardie and it sometimes can cause a RI ... they would more know.

I just know from a human point of view that when we have upper RI its a runny knows coughing stuff like that so it could be the same thing in a dragon.
Best to see a vet.

Hope their BD will be okay

I agree that this beardie needs to see a vet and ASAP. Does indeed sound like an URI and it can develop into pneumonia very quickly. It's also possible that the beardie has some type of food stuck in her mouth so that needs to be checked out also. So, a vet visit is in order as it certainly doesn't sound like she is going to get better on her own. Whatever is wrong is definitely affecting her breathing which is only going to get worse!

With the AC out and the high humidity in Florida, a URI is a very high likelihood. As others have said, a vet trip is in order to get that checked out and/or treated before it gets worse.

I'm agreeing with everything. The humidity is too high. As much as I hate the cost (the Husband and I don't care, and we never really ran the AC unless it hit 95), we keep the AC set on around 77°. That's pretty high in the grand scheme of things, but it keeps her humidity around 40% or so. Her temps are still well within happy ranges, but that AC is a LIFESAVER for humidity!

Best of luck!

Hello,

Most of the times, respiratory infections don't just go away on their own especially if the infection is that advanced. As Diane responded, it can escalate into pneumonia making it extremely difficult to treat it successfully.
Do you have a vet that you can go to in order to get a check up for him?
The humidity needs to be lower right now with him having some issues. Do you have a dehumidifier? That would help draw some of the moisture out of the air.

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
Mirage entered brumation yesterday, I'm gonna miss hanging out with my little guy.
