Fluffy Went to Petsmart

I had the babies out with me this afternoon. Went to pick my husband up from work and let them ride along. I decided to make a quick pit stop at Petsmart and grab some wax worms for a treat. So, Figment stayed in the truck with my husband and Fluffy stayed on my shoulder to run into Petsmart with me.

You would think I walked in with a ski mask on. I can't believe the reaction from all of these people who are standing there in the store with their dogs.

First, I went over to the area in fish where they keep crickets and worms. I was peeking inside worm containers when a girl came out from the back room and asked if she could help. She saw Fluffy and says "Oh! Food for your dragon? Great. What can I do?" Told her I was just checking the condition of the wax worms and she volunteered to check in back to see if there were any fresher containers. While I waited, there is a couple looking at fish and whispering and giggling to each other while they stared. No biggie. The clerk came back out and told me they didn't have any more in the back, so I took the better container of worms and made my way to the reptile section. As I was leaving, she called after me that my dragon is beautiful. All right. So, I was just paranoid about the couple and Fluffy and I are good.

We took a quick peek at the baby dragons - way too small to be up for sale, but at least the cage looked clean and I felt pretty good. So we headed to the register. Two were open. One had like four people waiting and the other had one. Guess which line I got in? Quicker and it avoids having my little angel near a number of dogs I don't know.

Well... I was shocked at the comments coming from people while I paid for her worms. One lady was saying how she can't believe that they allow people to bring "things like that" into the store! Yes! As she stands there with her ratty little dog in her arms! The customer at the register whispered something to the clerk and she clearly told her "Oh, yeah. Some people even bring their snakes in here. THAT really freaks me out,"

Wow! Petsmart sells reptiles right there in the store. They had two beardies that anyone could have bought right at that moment, but customers are shocked because someone is walking through the store with one.

No matter how long I live, I will NEVER understand people. :roll:

People have the strangest reactions to things. I can't wait till spring-time so that I can take Charlie everywhere with me. I won't let anyone make me feel weird about and neither should you!! You know your beardie is worth 100 of their little yippy dogs any day, and he doesn't shed, bark or chew the furniture!!

That's such a shame. We're all animal lovers and shouldn't look down on one another regardless of what animal it is we love. A beardie is just as worthy of a pet store visit as any dog.

I remember the time my dog has a seizure in Petco's doorway. He's epileptic so everything was fine and under control. We just had to wait it out. A nice couple stood watch and directed people around us. Employees went and got water and food for when he woke up. However, there was this one pair of teenagers that clearly said "why would you keep something like that alive?" as they walked past. A seizure is not necessarily a medical emegency in his case, but it is still a serious event and to have the gall to be so rude like that-- ugh! I just try and remember the couple and the employees who went above and beyond to help me at. The world needs more people like that!

My pet store loves it when i bring mine in because then they can pull me over an show people that they dont stay itty bitty forever. but the coustomers dont like it much they will scream or purposly go down a different isle untill i move on, iv gotten some very rude comments too.

Thanks for all the encouragement! I'm so riled up about it that I'm considering taking her to a political rally with me tomorrow. :mrgreen: My son is making it a goal to meet all the candidates while they are here. So, tomorrow will be Mitt Romney. Just picture Fluffy hanging out with us there! Hey... there were TONS of dogs at the Newt Gingrich rally, which was outdoors. Why not?

If you realy want to mess with them, I use a dog carrier to take Lucky out in and when they say let me see your dog you should see them back up when they see Lucky in there. LOL

Ha! Ha! I like that Spazz! I always tell my family to just play along because Fluffy has no idea she's not a dog. They have no idea how to act then. :lol:

I just saw your post in backward order but I'm still laughing about the first. I can't wait for spring to take my two out. The more comments, the more I will take them out. I have a dog and don't get me wrong I love him to pieces but I assure you my bearded dragon had always behaved better than my dog when I took him out. A+ to you

I take my girl out in a small dog carrier. I take her into Home Depot, gas station, feed store and of course the pet store. I have everyone ask" what do you have in there?" I say a bearded dragon. Or people will look at her and say they like my horny toad, well no she is a bearded dragon. The pet store loves it when I take her in there. They love seeing her grow up. Been since Oct she hasn't been anywhere, being she is brumating off and on. I can't wait til spring and I will get her a harness and leash so I can take her places on my shoulder , not in a carrier. I have never seen anyone around here with a bearded dragon out and about.

I have brought my girl to a store that only sells reptiles & fish and they love her. I use a pet carrier to transport her but take her out. I like bringing her there every so often so they can see how she is doing. It also gives me confidence that I am taking good care of her because they tell me she looks good, her colors are great. They give her a pedicure/manicure for me as I am just too nervous to cut her nails. I know, I know it is something I should be able to do, I am just so afraid I will cut too close and hurt her I leave it to the pros. They do it in like seconds and she gets to go and visit her pals at the store and customers in that store oooooh & aaaaah her. Now that is my kind of store. I have a dog and cats too so I have nothing against them as I love them too, but people can just be *****ic with their comments and can't see the beauty of our beardie babies. Don't even let them bother you!

I freaking DARE some one to give me a bad look, or talk any **** to me when I'm out with Franklin. I have zero issue with confrontation and I AM known for being a nasty SOB jerk when people get me going.

I've also been thinking about trying to make a rubber dragon to throw on people who don't like lizards. Can't do it with a real dragon, might have an accident!

What's wrong with people? Seriously. Beardies are just as good as any other pet. I have a dog, and he's an amazing pet. Fiz is just as good as my dog. People tend to think that reptiles are just dirty things that cannot be loved. Well, they couldn't be more wrong about them. I love Fiz as much as I love my dog.

Like many others mentioned, I can't wait for spring/summer either Fiz will be able to go everywhere with me! Most stores really don't mind if you bring your animals in, because Beardies are small animals compared to dogs and stuff and they can't really damage or hurt anything/anyone. The hardware stores and pet stores and stuff really don't care. I'll bring Fiz everywhere! I don't think I'd ever bring him to a restaurant, because I understand that's just going a little bit too far. LOL!

If anyone ever said anything to me about Fiz, I will literally snap. I may not be the most "fearful" looking or "intimidating" girl out there, but if you mess with me or the things I love, I'll snap. Don't get me wrong, I'm very nice ... most of the time!!! bahaha. If I were you and someone said something nasty about my beardie, I would've literally yelled at them. Right in the middle of wherever I happened to be.

RandyMarsh: LOL! I LOVE YOUR PROTECTIVENESS OF FRANKLIN! I could see you two tag teaming, you going after the lady and Franklin attacking her snobby, ratty dog! Nobody messes with Frank, he's a tough scaly dude! He'll rip you to shreds! But, he has a soft side for his "WURMZ!".

When my friends come over my house and go into my room, they see the light shining from the "Mysterious White Box" in my wall. They walk up, and then start freaking out. "What is that?!" And I'm just like "Oh, it's Fiz" and I just casually reach in, grab Fiz, who always is happy to see me. I have a couple of friends that LOVE Fiz and love to hold him, but then I have those friends who stand on the other side of the room when I have Fiz out. I mean really, I understand if he's a 20 inch BD, but come on guys he's 10 inches long and harmless!

It's so funny to watch their faces when I grab my cup of phoenix worms and reach in and grab a worm with my bare fingers. They literally scream! It's hilarious!

You have to own a Beardie to realize the joy they bring They can compete just as equally as any dog, cat, or any other animal you think is "better than them"

I love how casual you are about Fiz. I try really hard to be that same way about Fluffy. Hence her name. :wink: As much as I was losing it on the inside, I guarantee I looked like I couldn't care less on the outside.

My mom says I should look at people and say something like "what? Do you have a problem with my dog?" And leave them really scratching their heads.
