Fitting all the lights on a 30 GL tank?

Hi there, Im new to the forum. Name's Cira.
Im getting my first Beardie on Friday. I want to make sure I have everything I need and know as much as I can. Ive been reading that you need a UVB florescent bulb and a heat lamp as well. My question is, how do you place the lights so you have the canopy light AND the heatlamp on there?

PS> Would also like to know how you would set it up for a 10 GL aquarium. He's 5 weeks old and we will be leaving for holidays for 2.5 weeks in a months time and he will be going to stay at my sisters house in a 10 GL while im away.

Welcome to the forums :wave:

To do the lighting...u can just purchase a screen top for your enclosure & place the lights on top of the screen.

I'm sorry to say but a 10 gallon tank would be way to small to be able to achieve the proper temps. I would suggest atleast a 20 gallon long.

Hi Cira and welcome to the Family !

Here is the configuration you requested for lighting:

--------------------------- tube UVB
space O space House Hold flood light.

Basically you want both to be in the same area, say the basking area, so the dragon can get the benefits of both at the same time.

Great thanks for the replies! I purchased a 20 GL tank today for at my sisters house and Im going to get my dad to make me a steel top for the aquarium. (the one it has right now is the plastic type.) I cant wait till friday!!! So excited I could hardly sleep!! Lol.. but im going to need the time to get everything ready :mrgreen:
Just one more question, is it true that you dont need a reptile lamp, but that you can actually use just a normal indoor reflector lamp of some sort from the hardware stores?

From what i have read on the forms you can do that ^^

Yup! U can use a regular house hold bulb...just be sure the temps are accurate, just like with a reptile basking light :wink:

Glad u got the 20 long! I can immagine how excited u must be...especially if this is your first beardie! I am almost ready to get my 2nd one. I have everything I need except the actual enclosure. lol
