Hey all,
I've had Smid for about 3 months now and finally took him to the vet for a check up and fecal. We bundled up (it being -23 here) and into the jacket wrapped in blankets and with a hand warmer tucked in for good luck off we went. Well, of course my handsome little man (named after a hockey player - this is going to mess her up!) is actually a little vixen!!  This will take a while to get used to. Could've sworn I saw two bumps....Anyways, she had pin worms. So I'm glad I took her, but now I feel really mean forcing the little syringe into her mouth. Hope this clears everything up for her (trying to say she and her as often as possible). Oh yeah, other than that all is well - weighs around 250 and is just under 17" and is still growing at 13 months (grew an inch in the past week and a half). Vet says she won't get much bigger he aslo said she has a nice plump tail so that makes me feel good.

Wow, -23! Kudos to you for getting through the weather, and getting your bd into the vet. Kudos to BOTH of you!

Sorry about the worms, but it sounds like everything else is going well. The syringe thing sounds very tricky, but hopefully the meds will clear things up in a hurry so you won't be doing it too long. The gender thing is tough! We've taken to calling ours a boy/him most of the time, but I have a strong feeling that HE is a SHE. Just a sense I guess. Alas, just too early to tell. We've been trying on SHE for size now and again, just so that when we find out for sure, we won't be too thrown off.

The best to you and your "vixen." :D

Actually this has been a really cold winter here and believe it or not -23C without a wind is not so bad, if you are dressed for it - I am looking forward to not wearing long johns though - so many pants that just don't look the same with that extra layer :p .

ps it was -50ish (with the wind factored in) for almost a week a while back - that was cold!

 sometimes it is so hard to tell! oppsy! Are you going to keep that name or change it now? hehee!
Here is one sure fire way to tell if you have a male that is most infalable! The Femoral Pores! They start to show up about 4 months. It is much easier to see these for sexing than the other lump things that are reccomended.
See all the little bumps that run across the vent and down the legs? This is a male. Females do not have these

Wow,
yeah she definitely doesn't have those! I was looking for the other bumps but she doesn't really like me looking at her bits! Or lifting up her tail, but that's understandable. Thanks for the visual, though it really helped.

No prob! I know what you mean, I never got the whole two bump thing it is sorta confussing. Judah also hates having his tail lifted. He is always draging his backend through his poo, so when he poos I have to "check him out" He gets all mad and runs off. lil boggers

Ooh, Cloudy is 4 1/2 months... we'll have to start looking for these. Of course, "he's" little so it may be awhile before we can tell for sure. It's funny, we're totally easy going about it and then at others, my husband, my son and I will debate about it, and get really obsessed. Sometimes our little 'guy' is just so precious, I think GIRL for sure, but then, we go on calling him, well "him." :?

Time will tell. My son chose a name that works for male or female, so we're ok either way on that count. 8)

The best to you, and good luck on making the "mental transition."

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
