First Vet Visit

Ken and I took Meathead for the very first vet visit this morning. We used a cat carrier to ensure plenty of room, and a hot water bottle wrapped in a towel so she stayed warm. This was her first time outside too, so needless to say she was VERY curious of her surroundings. Trying to stick her nose out the cat carrier and enjoying the beautiful sunshine we had today.

We get to the vet and everything goes very smoothly until the vet took her from me to start to check her out. Meathead was doing good and not upset until the vet decided it was time to check her belly and make sure she didn't have any impactions, ect. He gently turned her over in his hand onto her back and out came the beard lol. She was a very unhappy lizard! She was bound and determined to show him who was boss after that. Trying to run away to Ken whom was standing right there. After the vet was done and I got her back I got that look like "mommy why did you let the bad man poke my belly?"

We got a CLEAN bill of health. He said she looked very, very good. Fecal samples were good too. YAY! We probably didn't need to take her, but we figured better safe than sorry. This is the first beardie we have owned.

We have heard that Dandelions are good to feed to beardies, and we would like your opinions as to weather or not this is a good idea. My father has ALOT of property and dandelions are aplenty out there. He doesn't spray pesticides or anything either. Please let us know what you think.

We also found out that Meathead is in fact a girl. We really didn't know how to determine sex until a couple days ago. Come to find out we should have been saying she instead of he. lol

So after a long day at the vet, some one crashed early this evening. Glad to see she is a very healthy beardie though. :)

Thanks. We actually have that website bookmarked and use it quite frequently. It has come in VERY handy :) I was just worried about pesticides and stuff with the dandelions. Some people would say they are safe and others not.

I would admit, yes that is a potential problem, you can always use a window box set up and grow your own there, just make sure to dead head the flowers before they dry into seed heads, and you will always have fresh dandelions !

Congrats! Glad to hear that she is in top condition! I agree, vet checkups are always good. A professional opinion can never hurt. :D

I just set Swordtail's timer for his bath and paused it so I could actually fill his soaking bowl up and he crawled over my phone and canceled the timer 🤣
Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
