First vet trip?

When should i take my lil guy to the vet? im guesstimating (estimating/guessing) that he is 9.5 weeks old. is it true to go every 6 months to get dewormed? i also heard they need their nails clipped, how often? and advice on this subject would be great.

Oh, and do those reptile nail clippers work? i would be afraid of hitting a nerve or something. any experiences with them?
