So I think Nelson is starting to shed, is there any special care I need to give him?
Poor little guy is not happy. He's still active and seems to be enjoying being cuddled more and he's loving when I mist him now. But he has lost a little bit of his appetite (still eating just not as much) and is getting all grumpy
I just wanna make sure I do all that I need to, and that his behavior is just due to shedding
(Note that his head seems to be getting an ashy color to it)

Hello,

That behavior is pretty typical with shedding so I wouldn't worry too much. It would be a good idea to bath him every other day while he's shedding and mist him a couple times daily. If he still isn't eating with the next week, that is when there could be an underlying issue but for now just bath and mist him and continue to monitor his behavior. Keep us updated on how he's doing!

Hope this helps,
Hailey

Thank you! He's eating a bit on his own. I leave a few feeders in a dish and he will randomly come off his branch and eat a some of them. So I think he's just pouting :p

Aww, yeah, sounds normal to me too. They look so pathetic when they are shedding and they do get grumpy.

Bathing can definitely help. Of course never pull the shed, let it come off on its own. I put a towel in my guys viv when he's shedding bc I notice he really likes rubbing up against it.

Poor Nelson. The second picture just says it all, definitely pouting!

Hey Taralachelle.

Bearded dragons can be a bit grumpy when they are shedding. Misting or bathing your beardie will help him feel better. If you have any room in Nelson's enclosure, you can also put a shallow bowl or tray of water in there for him to get in when his skin feels irritated.

Although you may feel sorry for him, never peel his skin off. Doing this can damage the new skin of your dragon and can cause bleeding, not to mention; it will hurt him if you pull it off. The only exception is if there is tight skin around his neck, legs, or tail, feel free to do a small tear to prevent the cutting off of blood circulation. However, do not pull ALL the skin from his legs, tail, or head. Just make a small nick.

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
Mirage entered brumation yesterday, I'm gonna miss hanging out with my little guy.
