First time showing beard

Okay, my beardie is 2.5 yrs old, i got him from a breeder. He has been great for two weeks and i have been handling him regularly. He has never shown any signs of stress or anything of the sort. Last nite when i went to clean out his cage for a little he was down in the bottom corner and showed me "The Beard". I changed his water and cleaned his bowls and i noticed it. I was a little shocked at first because i have never seen this behavior. The breeder said that sometimes he acts strangely when people have on certain colors such as black (i did have a black shirt on). I didnt try to pick him up or anything i just let him alone. He is in a 55 gallon and temps are all in check. I am at work now and i will be checking on him when i get home but do i have any reason to be worried? If so what kinds of things should i be aware of. I was thinking he may have just been having a temper tantrum and this did happen just before I shut the lights off. Maybe he was just tired? Thanks for any advice.

In my opinion you don't have anything to worry about. I think they have emotions just like we do. They can get cranky when they're overly tired etc. It's also mating season and many say there is more display behavior this time of year. My 2 boys have been in rare form with MAJOR black beards, beard puffing, and head bobbing. IF anything when they get like that "for no apparent reason" I will pick them up and try to comfort them - and usually my holding, petting and talking to them will calm them down and I can make a black beard go away.
