So I have read a million articles and three books on bearded dragons and finally got my little buddy ryu at a local reptile show on oct 21 so I’ve only had him for a week now. I know there is time for him to get acclimated to his new environment and owner before he resumes a more regular diet but at this point I’m starting to get worried about my little one. I’m not sure the exact age because I forgot to ask the seller but he is around 5 inches does not like to sit still for measurements and is a jumper. Haven’t had a chance to weigh him yet unfortunately so my best guess is he is 2-3 months old. Back to my point, the day I got him he ate 5 crickets that were in his travel container on the way home and then ate 7 more at night. The next day he ate 7 in the morning and 4 at night then 2 days ago he ate 0 in the morning and 2 at night we bought some micro super worms yesterday which he ate three of and ate 0 crickets all day and today he had 5 superworms and 0 crickets. I would prefer him eating crickets as they are cheaper and I don’t have to crush their heads before feeding but I want him to eat my main conserne is how long should I expect before he gets comfortable and starts eating the 20-50 insects a day. As for specs we had a all living things uvb which we measured the uv today to find at 7 inches away it was putting out immeasurable levels of ice so we are going to the store tomorrow morning to buy a reprisun 10.0 bulb. In the mean time we put a temporary uvb coil light that came with his tank which isn’t much better but atleast has a low uv output from 7 inches away. Basking temperatures stay in the low 100 and the cool side fluctuates between 77 at night and 85 during the day. He has old taken a liking to climbing up the back wall of his tank and chilling literally 2 inches away from the uv bulb so I’m assuming the reptisun will help him a lot. But any help on this subject would be wonderful I only want the best for ryu.
