My little Pumpkin has laid 3 clutches since New Years Eve (12/31/14 - 17 (only 5 have made it this long), 1/18/15 - 28 (one had no fertile circle inside but I kept it 2 weeks before I decided it was definitely not fertile) and on 2/5/15 she laid 32 more eggs). She is losing so much weight I am afraid if she does this again I will lose her. She eats like she is dying of starvation but still after this last clutch I was fearful of her laying another and not being able to support it and herself. She weighed 420g before hand and weighs over a pound when full of eggs (I haven't weighed her since she laid this clutch a few days ago but she looks so thin). I so worry about losing her as I have read stories...I hadn't planned on breeding them for a while but I walked out of the room for 2 seconds while they were both on the living room floor and when I returned he was already on her. I didn't want to hurt either of them so I didn't stop what was in progress. Anyways, is there a way to burst her weight. She eats her dubias like crazy, and eats her veggies and fruit I leave in her cage constantly, drinks plenty of water at bath time, and occasionally I give meal worms for a treat. She turns her head and closes her eyes at pinkies even though her previous owner claimed she ate them.
My second question is can I house the babies in a 50 gallon tank together? I have one and can set it up for them but I read somewhere that too much space stresses them. I have 64 eggs in incubation...I realize that they may need to be separated and I have to watch for aggression but I don't want to set up the big tank if it will be bad for them. Should I get a couple 20's or 10's instead? What is the best set up for hatchlings? I appreciate any advice. Thanks.
