I recently heard about "Beardie Blankets" :study: and i decided to try it. I cut a nice sized piece of fleece blanket into a square, and when Rexy was going to bed i put her in it and put her on my chest.
SHE LOVED IT!

so much even..
i didnt have the heart to take her out of the blanket so i just set her and it in her tank.
this morning I woke up and instead of seeing my rexy on the rock under the light, she was in the blanket just waiting for her salad.
It was very cute, she loves the blanket so much.
I dont think i will be leaving it in the tank anymore though... I just dont want to take ANY chances.
unless its okay?
is it?

I have had her a little over a month, and she has shed twice.
niccce!

Yoshi loves his burrito too. Why wouldn't putting the blanket in the cage be ok? Maybe a fire risk? I have never had any problems, I just make sure to put it as far away from his basking lamp as possible. like you said, dont want to take any chances. But letting them stay in the blanket lets them know that you arent going to eat them and when they wake up safely in the same blanket they fell asleep in, they figure out that youre arent going to hurt them, and they start trusting you more.

Mine sleeps in his blanket all night too. He also stays in it until I take him out to feed him breakfast.

I have been putting Rexy in a burrito after her lights go out, (so I can cuddle with her :D ) and as soon as she is in it she almost instantly falls asleep. I take it as a sign she loves it because she is now always in it when I wake in the morning and check on her. She likes to daze in her blanket while she waits for her salad and I think it is so cute, who would think a Beardie could love a blanket so much.

Unless the material is really close to the heat lamps (like in contact with) I wouldn't worry about spontaneous combustion. For cotton or fleece to ignite spontaneously takes about 390 C (734 F). So if you viv is getting that hot I would be more worried about a dehydrated beardie :D

Both of mine sleep wrapped up in their blankets.... in fact, Abu sleeps on a (pink, 'Princess) beanie pillow with her blanket over the top of her! She doesnt settle down at night unless we put her on her pillow and then cover her in her blankie!! And she doesnt come out of in until someone pulls it back for her!!

I am going to pick up a small baby fleece blanket monday when I get paid, do you think just using a clean wash rag for now would work? Draco is only 8 inches so far from nose to tail

I used a small fleecey towel for Abu in the beginning so theres no reason why you shouldnt use a wash cloth. In fact, Kazi's fleecy blanket is one of those giant kids beach towels which are quite smooth as I couldnt get a fleece blanket big enough for him to dig through happily!!

Gladstone has lived with us for 9 months and tonight for the first time he fell asleep on me and I can't believe how stupidly warm & fuzzy that made me feel! I did the stroking thing on is cheeks like I read on here that someone did, and I swaer he sighed with contentment.
:blob5: I hated waking him as I put him back in his cage and NOW I UNDERSTAND why people like that burrito idea! First thing tomorrow I'll find him a blankie and then he'll be as happy as the other burritos I read about on here. :blob5: :blob5:

Freddy knows when it is almost lights out and she has a very secure corner of the Viv that once she goes into it takes a lot of manuevering by a very flexible person to get her out so we have not been able to do the burrito yet, though I tried it as soon as she started getting calmer at night but she still wiggled out and wanted to go cruising...

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
