I've made post here about my enclosures that are being built, questions on food, lights, etc. I even have a for sale post up to make some fake rock structures for people, but I didn't even HAVE a bearded dragon until now. (I have geckos that I've been making the rock stuff for)
I have a little red (hopefully) female dragon that I got locally. She's about 6.5" or so and gaining weight nicely. The pet store (yes I got her from a pet store) had her on sand, no UVB and competing for food with about twenty others every day and the food was too large for her to adequately hunt down. She wasn't "skinny" to the point of seeing ribs or anything when I got her, but she wasn't a healthy weight either. She now has UVB, proper temps, no sand, and is being fed the proper size of crickets, and is getting greens for the first time in her life. She eats a little greens but not much... yet. She ate 4 crickets or so the first day I had her (1/4" size) I've had her about a week now and her appetite is increasing daily. She's yesterday she ate about 25 crickets and more greens than normal. She doesn't stress about being held. She even seems to like her daily baths. She was shedding when I got her and (although it doesn't seem possible) she had a DOUBLE shed in top of her head. She shed once, and then the next day I helped her shed a second layer from the same spot. She's all done shedding now and looks gorgeous. Jamie fell in love with her at the store and dragged me over there to buy her lol.
Also this morning, a GORGEOUS yellow male arrived from Howling Gale Dragons. He's about 7" or so (haven't officially measured him) He wasn't stressed at all when I got him out of his packing, and climbed up onto my hand and sat for a while. The package was accidentally shipped to my old address so I went there and waited with my old roomate for the package to arrive. The little guy actually rode the whole way home on my open palm with no fuss.
Their names are Mushu (red female) and General Tso (yellow male). Mushu doesn't like General Tso at ALL lol. It's the first time I've seen her beard anything, and she was black as can be on her belly when I introduced them. Hoepfully that goes away. They will be housed together for the next 5 days while their permanent enclosures are finished. (I know bad James lol) They'll still get fed, and bathed seperately so I think things should be fine for a few days. She came out of a cage as small as the one she's in now with about twenty babies so she'll have to deal with one roomate for a few days lol.
Anyway, I'll post pics of them once he finishes the full body shed he's undergoing right now. His yellow looks awesome even pre-shed!
