I've convinced the family to accept another animal (that's three times now I've knocked down the "no one is bringing anything else in this house except me" law *grins*).

As for past reptile experience I've had a leopard gecko that had very little personality and only tolerated being handled and was only out of her hide at night. So it's easy to say I can't wait for my little boy to come, he's going to be spoiled rotten! Now I'll just have to be extra careful/persuasive when apartment hunting because next fall this boy is coming with me no matter what!

I'll post a picture as soon as everything is finalized with the breeder, I live in Minnesota so we'll have to watch the weather closely for a safe day but until then I feel like there's 100 things to get done! I really hope I don't break him or hurt him or otherwise do something wrong. I've spent a week straight reading everything I could on these forums and I really feel like I know many books full of information but be prepared for a last minute question or two!

Here he is! I'm thinking Felix might be a possible name but I want to get to know him before I decide for sure.

He's from Rio Reptiles and Cheryl was so amazingly helpful and patient with me, I really can't wait to see him myself!
Color: Intense Red Tiger
Morph:
75% poss het Hypo
Dam: Daysi
Sire: Vyllyn
Hatch Date: 8/12/2011
Length: 10"
Weight: 50 grams
Features:Clone of his daddy, this boy is gorgeous! Bars that are to die for, great red saturation. No nips, perfect body.
Disposition: Very calm, sweet and laid back personality. This is one big teddy bear of a boy.

I ended up stalking his page for three days straight threatening that whoever buys him better take dang good care of him. I know they're always be more babies out there but I couldn't get him out of my head so after some deep thinking and planning I decided I couldn't let him go. I'm picking him up Saturday morning *HUGE grin* Any last minute tips? I'll give him a nice warm bath and then let him relax in his new home for awhile since I'm sure he'll be pretty stressed over the 1500 mile trip!

I'll post some pictures of his tank(s) if anyone's interested. I'm messing with different blub combos to find the perfect mix and I think I've got it. Otherwise I'm completely ready for him... He's got a new batch of 100 crickets being gut loaded and a big box of roaches due to come tomorrow. I bought him some fresh Kale and Collard greens along with a butternut squash and the little beardie bites so I'm eager for my first dragon!

He is a handsome little man!! You'll have to post pics when he gets home. I know his sister is amazing and growing fast. She has such a huge head and eats very well. They did such a great job shipping her and she ate right out of the box.
congrats. O and I also have geckos and tho i love them once i had my first dragon, puppy well there is no comparison.
The geckos do make me laugh while hunting crickets they wag their tail and slowly stalk them (as opposed to the dragons who chase very quickly) and the dragons have pinpoint accuracy when grabbing a cricket or worm...the geckos...not so much..they miss more times than succeed

Thanks for the reply, I'm so excited!

So so true on the geckos. My girl did a little dance with her front feet and wiggled her tail (which secretly creeped me out because I was terrified from day one she'd drop it... eww). I thought her absolute failure at mouth eye coordination was just her... personality. She was defiantly fun though, I just wish I could have made some kind of real bond with her since it was completely one way. Another little girl has her now and she send me pictures and little updates. She wants to be a vet and her mom and I worked it out so it was an early Christmas present :)

It'll be a little scary because I'm in Minnesota and it's pretty cold, especially if he's coming from across the country. But Saturday looks like it'll be the warmest day for the next few months. High of 36 and low of 26... :| I'm going to pick him up straight from the UPS office at 9 AM so he can get home earlier and wont have to spend hours in a cold truck. It'll only be about a 30 minute drive but I don't know if I'll be able to resist checking on him before I get home.

35 hours! I'll keep everyone updated and of course add pictures when the time comes. It'll be interesting to see how our two grow up, it's amazing how the same cross can make so many different color combinations!

Thanks Shiva :D

I'm already bored out of my mind waiting! I can't even get out of the house because I'm waiting for my shipment of Dubia to come and my tracking number doesn't work so I've just got to hang around just in case. There's nothing more I can do to his tank, I'm practically forcing the poor nasty smelly crickets to stuff themselves full of food in case he wants some when he gets here. Dubia house is ready and I can't lift the bag of grout out of the garage so I can't work on his new cage. Looks like I'll be stalking the forums all day...

Congratulations on getting that baby. I got both of mine from Cheryl. They are awesome!
I go back a couple times a week and look at the new babies she has for sale. He is definitely
my fave that she has to offer this week. I'm so glad that you are getting him and that your so excited.
Sounds like he will be very spoiled! :D

It'd be great to be able to see how that all works. I've seen her pictures on facebook on on her website though... and I'm glad you liked him!

I'm pretty freaked out now actually, it started to snow here and the roads are so icy. It wasn't supposed to snow tonight, not until next Monday or Tuesday. I think he'll be inside for most of the night though. I'll keep the little list below updated so i don't have to keep making new posts.

These times appear to be local to each location
5:18 -- First scan, he's on his way!
9:33 -- Left Florida, good bye green trees and sunshine :(
10:51 -- Arrived in Georgia. Looked it up and it's 51 degrees there and he's got a good heat pack so he'll be alright.
11:52 -- Left Georgia.
1:09 -- arrived in kentucky. Poor guy, I hope all this up and down doesn't mess with his ears like it does people.
7:30 -- left minneapolis mn. It takes probably an hour and a half to get to my pick up spot. Cars warming up and I'm ready to leave! He's got a salad ready for him and his tank will

He's home! His box was still toasty warm and he's just beautiful! His belly and chin were snowy white when I opened the bag but somewhere between then and getting him into his new cage he got stress marks. I tried to give him a bath but he jumped (literally jumped, scared me half to death!) onto my arm and it was hard to get his claws out of my shirt so I just put him in his basking spot to calm down. He hasn't moved from where I put him but he is looking around. I'll put a couple crickets in there when his marks go away but he does have a collard, kale and squash salad if he's hungry.

I'm uploading pictures now :)

It was 23 all night and early this morning. It's 27 now and when I picked him up. When I took the bag out it was warm, I was scared because the outside of the box was cold but he was well insulated and looked comfortable in his little blanket. Defiantly wouldn't wait until it was this cold again just because of how scary it was but he was perfectly alright and warm, started looking around as soon as I opened the bag!

Poor little guy, he looks so freaked out. Think I should "force" him to take a bath or can it wait until tonight/tomorrow? Also I don't have a bowl of water in there now and humidity is at 21%. Think I could add a bowl without raising it to much? He might not drink form it but I'd fell better if he had the option to.

Sorry they're so big, last time I tried to downsize them I made them way to small.

*He moved off his rock! Stress marks were almost gone then my cat walked in and gave her proud entrance meow. He does NOT like my cat! So in other words his belly and chin are all speckled again, he's looking around though and tasting the air so at least he's not trying to hide.

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
