Finding a wandering dragon

I fell asleep by accident today after having a medication issue and left all three dragons on the basking spot. When I woke up Pele and Goldie were still there but Sunny had, of course, vanished. Ever since he started puberty he's been TERRIBLE about this. I've already torn up the usual places he disappears into with no luck and I'm beginning to get worried.

Should I tear this room absolutely apart until I find his little butt, or are there ways I can try to lure him back out into the open? I have NO clue where he's gone off to, but I'm 99.9% sure he can't have gotten out of this one room.

What a stinker!
Usually they like to find a dark spot to take a nap, and they can fit into some pretty tiny places. From the lost-dragon stories I've heard, it seems like they tend to hang out in boxes or inside/behind furniture.
A lot of times they'll get bored or hungry and come out of hiding on their own, too. :) Good luck!

ETA: Check near your heating vents too. On Monday I had my adult out for his weekly "brumation bath", and after he was all dried off I let him run around for a bit. The little hooligan made his way over to the heating vent in my room and fell asleep on it lol. I think he might be part housecat...

He turned up under a pile of shoes. x.x It's a good thing we kept looking because it's apparently MUCH colder on the floor than it is at higher levels. The poor baby was like an icicle and was shivering badly. He's soaking in a nice warm bath and he feels much better, but his little escapades make me want to bang my head on the wall. Furniture is the usual place he goes and the first place I always check... God knows what got his attention about the shoes! Silly little thing.

I'm seriously tempted to buy a lizard leash and keep him in it whenever he's not being directly supervised. x.x

Shoes, eh? That's a new one lol :) I'm glad you found him okay though!! :) :)
I think if I had an unsupervised wanderer, I'd tie a long, lightweight piece of string or dental floss to him before I set him down. Then when it was time to go back in the viv, I could just follow the string til I got to the beardie!

The only problem with that idea is that I have cats. They would chase the dragging string like nobody's business. XD But it's a good idea in general.

That is a good idea. I need to try that because I got some wandering beardies myself. Maybe you can tie a bell to it too.

I crocheted a long leash out of fluorescent green string, so it's wider and softer than a plain string would be. I make a couple of slip knots to fashion a harness out of it so either Dubs or Richard can roam safely. It's about 15' long, so they can get a bit of exercise, climb around, and hide under stuff and I can still find them. Dubs loves to either get under our king-sized bed where there's absolutely no way we could reach him, or climb the inside of our curtains when he's exploring. Richard will find the only 1/7" of sunlight that's coming in the most out-of-the-way window, so he's easier to track down depending on what time of day it is. He also likes to lie right on our window blinds if he can figure out a way to get to them.

Today when I was wrapping presents I put Dubs on the bed to add a little excitement to his day, and after he realized there was nothing to eat up there and gave me the stink-eye from every possible angle, he got under one little piece of wrapping paper and tried to go to sleep. I wish I had taken a picture of it. He looked like an ostrich hiding his head in the sand. What a goober.

XDDDD Sunny does things like that. When he wants to sleep he'll shove his head under a fold of my shirt and just instantly doze off, so I can see that image in my mind very clearly. (And don't you love the beardie stink eye? No other pet I've owned is capable of communicating quite so much with just their gaze.)

LOL! I have a "lizard room" upstairs. It is our computer room and it has multiple basking spots for them and we can just close the door and leave them in there. After they heat up for a while usually go off and find a cold corner to snuggle up in and go to sleep. One day though my dragon "Little Sweetie" was upstairs for a few hours and I went up to find her and she was missing. I know all the favorite spots, but she just wasn't anywhere. I tore the room apart, and she was just nowhere to be found.

This went on for about 20 minutes. I was actually starting to panic, but them I was looking behind this box in the closet, and I spotted her. She had went into the closet, must have jumped on to my pants hanging in the closet which are about two feet off the ground. She had climbed up the back of my pants and was all the way at the top by the clothes bar, hanging there asleep! LOL! What a fool.

I am trying to get my bedroom/computer room set up as a lizard room, but it will work better when they are full grown adults. As small as they are now there are many small places they can wiggle into and get htemselves hopelessly lost. Once they are grown their wandering will worry me MUCH less because they'll be too big to wedge themselves into problem spots.

I bought a Drag-a-Long though just in case. ;D

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
