Im still about 2 weeks away from getting my first beardie (YYYAAAYYY!!!!) Anyways, I was wondering if anyone on this website in the Central Washington Region knows of a good reptile vet? Or would any vet clinic be ok? Do I need to find a specialist??

Ring your local vet and ask them. If they can't treat beardies, they will be able to recommend one that can. My local clinic does a good job with most ailments, but they can call in the specialists if needs be, or ship a dragon out to a better prepared facility.

You can also ask the local pet stores where their vets are. I know my local Petco uses a vet that is supposed to be good and is recommended with every purchase of an animal.

You really need a vet that specializes in reptiles. I found ours by asking around at a local reptile expo. One of the local breeders recommended a great reptile vet.

My vet that sees my Yorkie Apollo also sees Perseus. I'm from a small town that has no reptile vets. So I'm thankful she agreed to see my Beardie too! She is actually very informative also, and even printed out articles from another vet about beardies for me to read.

My old vet - well, bless him, he was old, and retired.

My current vet normally only specialises in small mammals, however, he's only a couple of years older than I am, he's really brushed up on his beardie knowhow, has a specialist on call if he gets out of his depth and gets excited over every new opportunity I bring him.

I know I could pay the extra and ship my dragons out to the specialist every time - but I'm very happy to work with the new, young vet. He gets the opportunity to learn so much more about an unusual field and I get the opportunity to get what could be a truly great herp vet for many more years to come.

It's an odd situation, but a win-win one for me. :)

I just set Swordtail's timer for his bath and paused it so I could actually fill his soaking bowl up and he crawled over my phone and canceled the timer 🤣
Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
