Finally! Meet Hurley

I got my BD today. I bought it from a pet store (boo me I know ) and the manager at there breeds dragons and told me that it was a male. I hope she's right b/c I wanted a male. He is said to be 4 months old and he is about 12" long. I have had him 2.5 hours and he has already pooped and ate his vegetables. I haven't thrown any crix in there yet I wanted him to get adjusted. I might try here soon. He laid in his basking spot under his MVB for awhile and now he is in the cool side of the tank. I have a log under the non basking spot b/c it's too high for the MVB and I wonder if I should take it out so to encourage him to bask in the actual basking spot. I will keep an eye on him and see if he continues to bask in the cool zone. Right now I have a 50W beside the MVB because the basking spot was only getting around 105 F (which I think is ok) I will probably turn it off. Anyhoo...here are some picks of Mr. Hurley/Hugo (I am a huuuuuge LOST fan so if you know the show you know his namesake). Whew that was a mouth full. Here are some pics. Ignore the big pile of dragon poo.

Thank you! He is tubby and active. I think he ate over 50 crix today. Of course they were probably a little on the small side but I'd rather err on the side of caution than get them too big. And he devours his veggies which I am totally impressed by. He keeps acting like he wants to be taken out but I am going to not rush it and let him get settled. So far so good. I thought handling the crix would creep me out but I think watching him eat them is so much fun that it doesn't bother me. I still can't believe how much this thing poops. He's had two poops so far and it's normal looking lizard poop...not runny at all or does it have big chunks of anything undigested(sorry if that's too graphic). I am definitely becoming a fan of the tile.

Yes, the tile works nicely doesn't it? And by all means your description of poop is not to graphic for us beardie lovers. :lol: Afterall we all know the "Happy Poop Dance!" (HPD) :laughing6: And know where else will you find people so happy about poop. I've even posted pic's of poop. :help: :laughing6:

Hurley is doing really well. He's an eating an pooping machine. He is not eating his vegetables as much as when I got him. The pet store said they gave him a few crix a day and the rest of the time fed him romaine (ew). I give him a ton of crickets (about 30-40) per feeding so maybe that's it or perhaps he doesn't much care for collard greens. As long as he is devouring his crickets I am not going to worry about it. He has already begun to shed. I am going to give him his first bath this weekend. I think he is really liking his viv as he ran around in it the first few days. That was probably b/c he was kept in a 12"x 12" tank for months and had horrible lighting. He had those awful curly bulbs, a red heat light, and a regular light. He really seems to enjoy the T-Rex MVB. I have noticed that his coloring is coming out more. He has a bunch of light orange patches on him. It's really cool. I really want to pick him up but I have read you should wait about 4 days.
