Sorry I've been missing from the forums...the last year has been crazy!

Mater is two now! I just can't believe it.

Anyhoo my question is do all females lay eggs? As I said Mater is two and has shown no signs of laying eggs. She is my only beardie so there are no males around to stimulate her.

And for those of you wondering why a female is named Mater, we thought she was a boy until she was about 6 months and by then it was too hard to explain to the children why they should call her she instead of he. So Mater or Matera as I like to call her has an identity crisis. lol

I do not have any first hand experience with egg laying. But, from reading about others on here it seems like some lay and some don't. It also seems like females have a better chance of laying when there is a male around. So, if you don't have a male maybe she will not lay, or maybe she will. But from what I have read you will know when it's time, b/c the females seem to go a little nutty before they lay. Hope this helps! (Oh, love the name Mater, it's cute even for a girl!)

I just set Swordtail's timer for his bath and paused it so I could actually fill his soaking bowl up and he crawled over my phone and canceled the timer 🤣
Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
