Well i bought a colony about two months ago. i bought 80 females and 20 males. These were all adults. About two weeks in i saw a dead male. now in the last month, 4 dead females. all with their "but" open like egg sacs were just out. I have so MANY babies. i am glad about. Before i noticed any females die offs, i gave them water crystals. But for a month i have been using watermelon as there water source. they drink and eat from it as i have to take the skined peels out every 4 days. IS the watermelon killing them? no dead babies and they eat it the most.. Are they just old??

Thanks

with adults it is hard to tell how old they are with a nymph you can tell its age as soon as it reaches maturity. there may be a possibility you got some older adults and they just got old. I have found a total of 3-4 dead roaches since I got them a couple months ago. as long as the nymphs are not dying you should be ok. just let them grow up and give you more feeders. they should produce for well over a year to 2 years as long as they are healthy.

Sounds like they hit the end of their life cycle. Gotta agree with diggerdrake, if the nymphs aren't dieing, then they are just passing away naturally (rest their souls) You will probably keep seeing some dead adults for a while as they finish out their lives, but if the nymphs are growing and doing well, I wouldn't worry about it.

I just set Swordtail's timer for his bath and paused it so I could actually fill his soaking bowl up and he crawled over my phone and canceled the timer 🤣
Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
