Hi guys, firstly please dont think im some ***** that keeps beardys with no idea what Im doing, I happen to be 38 years old and married with two kids (4 & 7) so i consider myself responsible.
I got 2 beardys (lizzy & Rex) about 4 months ago a male and female at 5 months old, we love these guys and have spent alot of time and money on them and so we should as they are lovely pets.
About 6 weeks ago I sailed on my submarine for a short period at sea (Royal Navy), the last thing I said to my wife was look after the kids and the beardys!!
After 6 weeks at sea I returned and my wife informed me that my 4 year old daughter had taken the female beardy (Lizzy) out of the viv that afternoon and lost her in the garden whilst playing with her in the sandpit  , im sure you guys can imagine how upset we were!!
I spent 3 hours in my garden with a torch searching for her that evening, I laid out piles of rocket, put lamps in the garden and crossed my fingers.
I carried on the search on a daily basis but given the climate over here in the UK and the amount of domestic cats living in the area I didnt hold out much faith for her survival.
Anyway 2 weeks had passed and today and whilst my wife was collecting our son from school a woman from our street asked her if we had lost a lizard as she had found one in her garden this afternoon, apparently her German Shepherd had been stood barking at this lizard for 10 minutes until the woman plucked up the courage to pick it up and had put her in a bucket for safe keeping.
We couldnt believe our luck, 14 days to the day and our Lizzy has been returned to us, she seems to have put on some weight so has obviously been eating well over the last two weeks, it just shows how hardy these guys are, as I said the climate in the UK is not ideal for a beardy but our Lizzy defeated all odds and survived. We now have double locks on the Vivs with the keys kept on top of some very high cupboards!!!!
