feeding waxworms

I just got a 50 count of waxworms on accident, for some reason I thought they were butterworms but I got them home and I guess I grabbed waxworm on accident. Is it ok to try as a treat for my beardie and was wondering how many a day can I feed as a treat? Also how long will the last in the fridge? It says to keep them in the fridge 45-55 degrees.

I think you should give him 10 once a week. They are very fatty.

How big is he? If he is ten inches or smaller then I say five a week at the most. But if he is bigger then you can maybe feed ten a week. I have wax worms and they have lasted for three, maybe four weeks, in the fridge. And are still lasting. Hope this helps!

what about two waxworms as a treat 2-3 times a week?? He ate 20 crickets and then he just ate 2 wax worms after the crickets. I offered him a 3rd and he walked the other way so I guess he was full.

He is 11 and a half inches as of yesterday. I am guessing not 10 all at one time, spread them out throughout the week?

Yeah, definitely. My Nim is ten inches long and I give him one wax worm a week. I'm really careful about feeding them because how fatty they actually are. Since he is already fat enough.

I am going to feed them sparingly then for now, I just want to offer a variety of feeders and I am trying to find variety locally but it is hard to come by. I guess I will have to order online... maybe some silkworms, butterworms, hornworms when he is bigger. I just hate not knowing if they are going to get to me alive or not, the shipment of dead phoenix worms turned my stomach. (of course they replaced them and the replacement was alive and well, but still not something I like dealing with)
It's nice to be able to open a cup of worms at the pet store and look at what you are getting before you take it home.
