So my male bearded dragon is now a little over 8 months and 18 1/2 inches (measured today) from tip of nose to tip of tail. I need recommendations on his feeding schedule as I think it is time to start cutting back and he seems to be eating less protein.
So I am buying the largest size crickets 3/4" and he usually eats between 20-30 in a feeding. In the last month I have cut back his feeding from twice a day to once a day because I noticed more often there were leftover crickets from his morning feeding and previously they would all be gone. I feed frozen/thawed crickets by the way. I stopped feeding superworms because I noticed they make his stool watery, and since going back to primarily crickets they are normal again.
So in the morning I place a bowl of greens. If I am home during the day I put his crickets in midday after he has eaten some salad. On the days i work I put a bowl of greens topped with crickets in the morning.
Are 25 crickets a day sufficient protein at this age? that is about 200 a week and I know an adult should only get about 50 crickets a week, so I am wondering if I am giving him too much and when I should start cutting back?
I just want to make sure he gets the right balance of nutrition. :study: and there are so many different articles that suggest different things!
