Feeding Issues?

I just got a new baby, no more than 6 weeks old and he is only eating 2-3 crickets a day.

Is this normal?

How long have you had him? It may be relocation stress from the big move. The can usually put away 30-50 a day, perhaphs thats even being conservative! You should offer as many as they can eat in a 15 min period three times a day. But like i said if you have only jusy got him he is prob getting used to his surroundsing, the new sihts and smells etc, it may take a few weeks to settle down fully.

how long have you had him? he may eat very little for up to 2 weeks while he settles in, this is called relocation stress. could you go over your cage setup as well? such as what substrate, lighting and brand names, cage size ect.

this is my 4th day with him and he has rolled oats substrate (just for when hes young)

he also has a salad bowl
big water bowl
75 watt lamp... keeping hot side of cage around 90-100
and a long flourescent light bulb
his enclosure is about 15 gallons or so

rolled oats are not good.I would switch to non-adhesive{soft{ shelf liner paper towels or tile.Any thing loose they can ingest is not good.Is your flouresent tube a UVB light?They need UVB for digestion.He should be eating 15-25 crickets a day.If hes ingesting the rolled oats they are probly swelling when eats them & maybe telling him hes full.

My friend has 2 beardies though, hes had them from birth and hes always had them in rolled oats in case they do ingest it, it can digest easily

What happens when you add water to oatmeal????It expands.Just a thought.

It might be too humid in there too if you have a BIG water bowl in there , I heard (from here) that they wont eat if its too humid. I would take the water bowl out.
