hello beardie keepers! I'm hoping to get a baby bearded dragon in a month or so, but i have a question feeding insects. Every care sheet i've read says to feed salad in the morning, so they eat it before the insects, which i can do, but they also say to feed insects 2 times or even 3 times a day, which im not too sure i can do, with school and everything. i dont know if i will have time to dust and put crickets in the cage and take the un eaten ones out and everything. Is there anyway i can feed the veggies in the morning and then the insects once in the afternoon/evening, or do they have to be offered frequently? I could start off with a bigger dragon so i dont have to feed it insects as often, but i'd kinda like to get a baby. :)

babies need to be fed 2 times a day each feeding give them as many crix they want in 10 mins.

if you dont have the time for a baby its best not to get one because they need alot of attention, an adult on the other hand isnt so needy, just put greens in the viv in the morning and a couple of bugs at night.

so ur probably better off getting a fully grown adult over a baby.

I guess it would be better. Better for the beardies health and thats all that matters. And by adult, does that mean the full 18-24 inches, or can that mean 12 inches or so?

it doesnt have to be fully grown, you can get a one yr old.

roo is ........? coming up to 7 months i think and he is a touch bigger than 12 inches, so i just depends on the growth rate of the animal in question, but if you got a 1 year old that would be a good starting point.

That means at least a year old or older ;) Size isn't a good way to judge age, as husbandry good or ill effects size and weight.

:D Ok thanks. This is a little off topic, but what breeder do you recommend, if you got it from an online breeder? Do you recommend getting dragons offline? I like hearing others opinions. :blob5:

Jeff at California Citrus Dragons has some girls up for sale. I have their older brother, hatched the day after xmus ;) But you may want to check out the "for sale" threads. Look for an older dragon, a year or more. Also, there are dragons that have had injuries, that are healed, looking for new homes. So there are some options.

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
Mirage entered brumation yesterday, I'm gonna miss hanging out with my little guy.
