Feeding hatchlings

Hi, i visited the for sale seccion and i saw a post from Tom ( the wolfmantom). It made me think again about feeding babies. He said in that post that the babies were eating 3/8 crickets a day. I allways read advise to feed all they want in a ten minute time and we know it can be from 10 to 50 or so. i also know that a recently born will not eat for a couple days and then start eating only a few crickets a day. When do you switch to start feeding all they want? do you do it gradually or do you wait till they are a little more established?

Lol! i just realized! i´m used to another unit of measurement (cm, mm) and when i read your post i got confused! my mistake.

Tom, 3/8th" works out to about 10mm in metric but what is the size of beardies eating 'em hoppers?? I have a batch of 1/8th" crixs growing-out. Will these be suitable for few day old baby beardies? Thanks! RW

They grow fast at that age Ron so you should be good.
I tend to start with 1/4 inch for the 1st rounds of feeding, then I order the 3/8 inch with the second order.

Thanks, Tom. I'm incubating a bunch of eggs, some in an avian brooder and a few in a DIY incubator. These were laid spanning a few days, 15th~19th Nov, a total of 20 eggs. It's my first time with reptiles of any sort and I'm happier than a pig in mud!

I'm doing further reading on temperature and incubation times, but I'll post my incubator pics when time allows.

For now, my cricket and roach cultures are stable and slowly growing. Superworm beetles are in another critter-keeper and hoping they will breed.
