Alright, so my beardie is about 2 years old now and I'm just curious about his feeding. I've always been great with his feeding. When he was a baby he got pinhead crickets with calcium (4 a week) and vitamins (3 a week) then moved him to larger crickets and less calcium/vitamin per week as per usual.
Now that he is definitely an adult I don't seem to have slowed down the crickets. While he used to get 3 feedings a day (maybe 30-40 crickets at a time) he does 1-2 feedings a day now (between 20 and 50 crickets a feed). He also gets chopped mustard greens, collard greens and spaghetti squash (the squash is delicious) every day. I feel like he's eating a lot, but he still acts hungry. The crickets in his cage don't stand a bit of chance--he will leap at them and corner them in the cage so it's easier.
Should I just cut down to one cricket feed a day while still offering the veggies constantly? He's no where near overweight (don't even have to weigh him you can just plainly see he isn't overweight) and I swear he runs around his cage for hours and hours when I'm not around.
It would be nice to get fewer crickets over a month (still order 1000 crickets every month or so). Since he isn't gobbling down 200 a day anymore and he's the only beardie I have there's no point in breeding crickets either.
Just curious--seems like a lot of food for him. And I've cut down to calcium twice a week and vitamins once a week. Is that right? I feel like it should be 3 and 2 respectively, but I know adult beardies don't need the vitamins as much.
