Feeder Question -Infection

My roommate and I got a feeder from someone else who couldn't get their ball python to eat. They had an accident and the rat's tail de-gloved. The rat has since gotten a slight infection. Would it be unsafe to feed this rat to one of our snakes?

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
