Feeder predicament

Help! I need advice on what to do! I placed cricket order last Wed. but due to holiday weekend and high demand for crickets, will not actually receive them until Thursday! I also ordered Phoenix worms but won't be getting those until Thursday too! I totally miscalculated as I'm rather new to this online ordering of feeders, holiday delivery delays and such a hearty piggy. lol. I feel terrible for Luther that I don't have any crickets to offer him. He got his last few yesterday (about 6 crickets) plus several wax worms plus collards. (I'm afraid to give him too many wax worms as I know they are fatty and like candy). I don't trust the local Petsmart crickets (I'm afraid they'll have parasites). We have an independent pet store I could get some crickets or even "hissing roaches". Are hissing roaches okay? They don't carry the dubias. I wonder if it would be safe to order several crickets from this pet store without jeopardizing Luther's health?

I want so bad to contact the roach guy and get a colony started, but don't have hubbies approval...yet (it would save so much $ and hassle I know)

Thanks so much for any advice!

What's stopping your husband from giving you the go-ahead? Maybe we could help sway him to the roach side. lol

ha! ha! I think its just the "stigma" and he's afraid they'll escape (like the occasional cricket does) - lol.

Petstore crix will do for now!

I know it's not just getting hubby's approval, but getting me past that stigma of roaches! I know they are far better as feeders but I myself can't bring myself to bringing those in! It literally makes me :puke: just thinking of it! But I've also learned to never say never (that was a good song title too once upon a time) - so who knows, maybe I'll come around

My wife was completely against them in the beginning too. When I explained that they can't survive outside of the bin, they don't eat rotten food and they can't invade our house she softened up a bit. Now she helps feed them and she gets all excited when they have babies. Just think of it like a big beetle.

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
Mirage entered brumation yesterday, I'm gonna miss hanging out with my little guy.
