What insect(s) do you prefer to feed your beardie(s) and where do you get them from?

When he was young and I was just starting out, he ate petstore crickets, but as he got older I wanted to find something more cost effective and less likely to jump away. He was eating superworms from Great Lake Hornworm for a while, but he slowed down on how many insects he was eating and the minimum order of 500 became too much. (Plus there was die off to deal with and they smell...)

I tried a sample of dubia roaches, which he enjoyed, so I'm thinking of going that route. They don't smell and are hardier than the superworms. I have to admit, when Norbert was in a long brumation period, I temporarily forgot I had the roaches, but none died.

So, mostly out of curiosity, what does everyone else feed their beardies and where do you get it from?

Im glad you may get him off the superworms and on to a healthier staple feeder and not a treat feeder.

I prefer roaches, calciworms/pheonix worms/black soldier fly larvae, and hornworms (if i have them) to feed my beardies but at the moment im just stuck with crickets which are completely fine and my juvenile likes catching them but they are horrible to keep fed. Then again i have 2,000 of them to feed all my reptiles.

I usually get crickets off amazon, dubia roaches off dubiaroachs.com, and calciworms off the same site as the dubias since they have pretty good prices on there. The hornworms i get is usually off amazon since they have a bit of a variety to choose from for prices. They sometimes get superworms as treats but usually only once a week or every two weeks and only 2-3 at most since the high fat content and low valuable/good nutrition.

I often order the bearded dragon combo packs from Rainbow Mealworms and will substitute extra hornworms or dubia for the less healthy feeders like super worms and wax worms. So basically I get a 1-2 week’s supply of a variety of feeders that include dubia, BSFL, crickets, and hornworms. To order dubia in bulk I recommend dubiaroaches.com. Coastal Silkworm is a good pick if you want to try silkworms, although silkworms can be hard to acquire depending on the season. But if you can get your hands on some silkworms, these are wonderfully nutritious feeders.

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
