so, i thought i'd go ahead and start up an ongoing thread for falkor. if you're interested in reading about his beginnings and the mini adventure i've gone through trying to right the wrongs of the pet store, check out my introduction thread here - viewtopic.php?f=44&t=131036&start=0. either way, i'm going to go ahead and repost the pictures from that thread and continue to add to them :)

the day i brought him home along with his original setup:

his current setup (the middle is a little dirty from calcium dust - time to clean the carpet)

almost looks like it could have been take outside - well, except for that black cord ;-)

"i'm sure i could reach that plateau...doesn't look that far..."

i LOVE how this shot turned out:

here's a funny shot i took the other night of him sleeping. he normally sleeps up on his branch, but on this particular night, he didn't quite make it before falling asleep :-D

trying to surf the internet - sorry buddy, you just don't weigh enough to press down the keys:

i just bought some slate tile tonight and i have it all ready to go in. that'll happen as soon as i get out of work tomorrow. count on some more pictures then. i'm so excited - i think it'll look really cool :-D

fyi - i'm now broadcasting the webcam until his lights go out around 21:20 eastern time every night. some people on another forum i'm on begged me too since they aren't able to watch him at work. falkor got himself quite the audience last night which was pretty fun :)

Falkor would make an excellent statue or art model :D

I checked him out at lunch time, and then just now and I swear he's in exactly the same position!

I really gotta get one of those webcams :)

oh yeah, i forgot to say that falkor got his first attention from a stranger yesterday afternoon. i was sitting out on the front porch with him and a lady walked by and stopped and asked me what i had. i told her that it was a bearded dragon and she got all excited and asked if she could hold him. i told her sure and she held out her hand. falkor walked right into her hand without any coaxing and just sat there staring at her while she pet him and kept telling him how cute he is. he just ate it up. she asked me a bunch of questions about him and bearded dragons in general. it was fun. i'm going to have to start going on walks with him :)

here's his sunday afternoon weigh-in. he's gained 12 grams since wednesday morning! also, he's at 12.25" now. the first picture shows 77 grams, but i noticed that his tail was resting on the counter, so i put him in a little tupperware container to get a more accurate reading.

finally, here are a couple of pictures of him watching youtube videos. it seemed like he was trying to get into them, lol.

weekly update time! falkor is doing very well, eating tons, and growing quickly. he gained about 17 grams this week and he's now up 13 inches. on saturday, he got to hang out outside all day - and he tried out his leash for the first time. we were having a garage sale, so i sat outside with him for most of the day. he loved it - not only the sun, but meeting all the people that came around. it was kind of funny though. most people had positive reactions, but it was amazing how many people didn't even seem to notice him sitting there. oh yeah, he also shed his legs this week for the second time since i've had him. his head looks like it could start shedding any day now.

i see him like this quite often - makes me think of a muppet. think he should try out for sesame street? lol

IMG_4443.jpg

biiiiiiiiiig pancake!

IMG_4445.jpg

trying out the leash - this is how he spent most of the day on saturday. he was very content just sitting on my leg.

IMG_4459.jpg

his first time in the grass. he didn't stay down there for long since there was a cat around who was being a little too curious. he did decide to munch on a piece of grass while he was down there though.

IMG_4462.jpg

sunday afternoon weigh-in. look at that smile on his face - he's so proud of his growth :)

IMG_4471.jpg

taking a bath outside. he pooped seconds after this picture was taken. i was a little surprised since he had already pooped earlier in the day and he's never pooped twice in one day since i've had him.

IMG_4477.jpg

since he pooped in the bath, i decided to weigh him again afterward. looks like it was 2 gram poop ;-)

IMG_4479.jpg

these next two pictures are of falkor and my mom. she came over to visit on sunday night about 30 minutes before his lights-out. he was obviously ready for bed, lol.

oh yeah - if you haven't already (and even if you have), don't forget to check out his webcam whenever you get the chance :-D

hi michele,

glad to hear you enjoy watching the webcam :) looks like you tuned in at the perfect time ;-) i really think he's trying to test/train me. he used to always poop in his afternoon bath, now he's started pooping shortly after his morning crickets (and sometimes in his afternoon bath as well). this isn't a problem on the weekend since i'm right here to clean it up usually. however, on weekdays, he usually ends up pooping shortly after i leave for work which means it sits in there and bakes all day :-( i might have to start getting up and feeding him a little earlier in the morning just so i will still be here to clean up after him. he really does have me whipped, lol.

I must have JUST missed his morning cricket feeding.I watched the video that you posted though. He is a good hunter :D

Yes he does have you :whip: :laughing6:

Do you use IE? If so send me a PM and I will give you the info to Gemini's webcam :D

yeah, he does pretty well in the hunting department. though, i did start spoiling him a little. i found that i made much less of a mess if i dumped his dusted morning crickets in a small dish. he now seems to really like eating the crickets from a dish. so, i give him his dinner like that as well. he still has to hunt though cause so many of them do manage to jump out of the dish. so yeah, even more :whip: ;-)

ok, i'll send you a pm :)

yeah, i like the harness a lot. i really like how it's completely adjustable and you can use it on any size dragon. it doesn't seem like it'd be as comfortable as some of the others i've seen since it has that metal clip that takes up part of it. the metal didn't seem to bother falkor at all though.

Toyguy,
Here is the link (I have the same one in blue)
http://www.petmountain.com/product/reptile-leashes/11442-508821/four-paws-safety-iguana-lead-harness-.html

Here is a different design (which I also have) but it's kinda hard to get their arms in the holes.
http://www.petmountain.com/product/reptile-leashes/11442-503581/t-rex-reptile-comfort-leash.html

Thanks! The second link is the one I have and it is indeed a pain to get on. Not only do I have to try and finagle his arms through the holes, but once it's on it really takes 2 hands to close up the leather strap and pull the cord through, then slide the keeper down. That other one looks much easier to deploy :)

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
Mirage entered brumation yesterday, I'm gonna miss hanging out with my little guy.
