My little guy is still displaying discomfort or some type of problem with his eyes ever since Ive brought him home. He only choses to fully open them when being handled , bathing, or eating. Hes been to the vet and is on liquid calcium and given panacur for worms. The only other thing she could find wrong was dehydration.

Heres his eyes closed:

Is the Reptisun 10 you have a tube or a coil bulb?

Its the tube style, as pictured. I have tried turning off the bulb for up to 2 days, no difference in this regard. Vet wants to see him back for a recheck but i see no point if she cant adress my main concern. Perhaps its time to try to different vet.

Hi there....I think that most of his problem now is stress induced rather than an eye problem. When they don't feel well in general they keep their eyes closed. He probably was going through relocation stress to begin with, as well as being dehydrated, then the vet was giving him shots + you are dosing him with calcium [ I don't see any rubber jaw, and if he were developing calcium deficiency the first signs are almost always trembling + twitching of the toes, although at times it can be different ] So he may now just be extra stressed, also going back + forth to different tanks. See how he does in the next week or two, and offer smashed crickets or dubia lightly rubbed on his nose as well as chicken or squash baby food. Keep him hydrated as well...hopefully you'll see some improvement soon.

Hello,

The basking light you are using, is it a bright white light or coated with neodymium?
How close is the Reptisun 10 tube bulb to him?
How is his appetite doing now, is he eating anything for you?
Try getting some chamomile tea bags warmed & moistened to use at night before he goes to sleep to help soothe the eyes to see if that may help out.
Are you using sterile saline solution for him daily in the eyes?

The basking light is a white 50w exo terra sunglow
The tube is mounted at the top, i would say he can get within 6-10 inches of it
His appetite has been much better, and normal bowels, but I still see him hanging his hind legs back sometimes during the day like he is constipated or something. His crickets are definately not too big - so it couldnt be impaction. He poos everymorning before lights on somehow i guess because the sun comes up at 6:30 and lights at 8:30. I am still seeing spots of JUST urates though, so if he is straining, somethig is coming out.

My girlfriend bought sterile saline solution yesterday but it was the one for contact lenses, im having her return it and get the right stuff today.

I dont know anything about the sunglow lights,, Tracie will have to answer that...but isn't it a basking and uvb light???? And you have another uvb light also??? I can tell you that them stretching out their back legs is normal...its called "sexy leg".

Like Tracie asked,,,does it have a neodymiun coating on it,,,the sun glo basking light?

I think sunglo or repiglo is the uvb combo, this is just a normal basking bulb from petco/petsmart for 9$. Previously i was using zoo meds version of the same thing but that claimed to be 35% more focused heat due to a tighter beam, so i opted for the exo terra 50w when the vet said dehydration.

As far as that coating i dont really know... There is some sort of frosted bottom on the light, same as the zilla , and zoo med brand. Its one of those lights that is shaped like a basking light, with the flat bottoms , you know? It also has some type of reflector built in. I use these bulbs because i have never been able to get the temps up anywhere past 80* with a regular 75 w household bulb, even in a 10 gallon tank..

Also, can the "sexy leg" apply to only one leg? I have heard about that before and have notices him doing it with both legs in the past , but recently hes only been doing it with one

You should bath him daily for 15-20 minutes to help with hydration, and drip water on his nose to try and get him to drink as well. Sexy legs is him relaxing :) Mine sometimes does one at a time, he looks like he's a ninja  He'll do the same with his arms at times too, silly beardie :p

Sorry if I missed this, but what are you measuring your temps with? It would be almost impossible to not get the temps up especially in a 10 gallon tank. Also, I didn't see anywhere that you were giving probiotics while he was on the meds.

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
