Hi all,

I'm worried about Fidget, he constantly, and I mean six out of the seven hours he is awake he is headbobbing and running around.

He's done this a lot since we've got him but he's just getting worse and worse.

And i suspect he is the cause of the other's beginning to act up. They are all starting it now, well all except Ollie, so now i've got not one crazy loon but 3...

Anyone got any tips? I can't put him on the floor because he bobs at their cages and i can't put the others on the floor because he bobs from his cage to them, but he's not only bobbing, he's running around and scraping his face on the glass. He goes as black as the night, all the way down his beard and his belly, if you remove him from the room, he will eventually calm down after 30 mins or so, but i can't keep him out of the room at all times.

I'm really desparate now. Please, if any of you have any ideas...i'm open to them!

Thanks,

Nikki

Hey Nikki,
Can your little monster see any of your dragons from his viv?

What age is he at the moment? He might be going through the dreaded puberty stage.

Hi!

He can't see any of them no...they're stacked like this

A B
C D

He's in B...

He is about a year old....so I guess he is at that stage!...But he's started the others off doing it, who have ALWAYS been placid...

I'm just worried that he's going to give himself a heartattack or hurt himself by running at the glass!

Thanks for the reply,

Nikki!

Hello, i've been having some of the same behaviour from mine. I have recently stacked the vivs and given each of them one good size viv each. If i get my 3yr old male out, he will immediately try to get at my 5month old bashing into the glass headbobbing bearding and waving. When i return him to his viv which is at the top of the stack it takes him a while to settle back down. i am going to have to not let him run near the vivs as it upsets both the other beardies.
I know from other posts i've read that some people have to actually put the viv in a separate room so they don't sense eachother. Also watch your temps are ok in the viv this can cause restlessness. good luck julie

He may be going through the 'change' then Nikki.
I would just try to make sure that in the next few weeks he does not catch aaaaaaany glimpses of your other dragons or it'll send him off into big boy mode again for a good day or so.
Perhaps when you take out any of your dragons you can turn around right away so he cant even see a tail?

I hang a "curtain" over the one other I have in the same room, when I take one or the other out. This way no one sees anyone else, and the oldest (7 months old) doesn't start the bobbing and waving thing.

Hello,

Thank you to everyone that replied, i think i'm going to have to let them run around in the bedroom so they can't see any of the others....

Crazy little boy...any ideas when this will pass...i've never had one like this before!!

Thanks,

Nikki

Well just like everything with dragons there really isnt a definate answer!
Most boys seem to go through "the change" in about two or three months.
There are however resistant little monsters like Kazi (master of MissT) who his on something like his 5th month of being a mad-man!

I hope you have a swift and easy one.

The spread of his crazy behaviour to your other dragons could also be because its mating season (i believe)

He probably is going thro puberty too so you have a horny teenage dragon on your hands, it may only last a few months at most, but hey every beardie is different, Wiggles went hyper active during puberty but he's never really head bobbed he's a very mellow beardie in that way (but then again he hasn't seen any other beardies in a v long time)

Oscar used to be a mellow dragon but now he is doing the headbobbing and running around/scratching at the glass, like a loon all day. He is making me nuts! He will be 3yrs old soon. This all started when I brought Calypso home in June of last year. I had a few months of peace when he brumated, LOL They are not even in the same room.

I wish I knew when he was going to stop or something that would help him calm down.

Blow-up lady dragon?

LOL.. if it would work I might give it a try. I can't wait til the weather is warmer and he can go outside for a bit daily. The scratching and banging of the glass is getting on my nerves.

lol, i'm not sure a blow up beardie is a good idea
i can just see him locking onto the neck of the blow up and pop a very startled, confused and disapointed beardie :laughhard:

maybe a cuddly toy may be a better option

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
