This is more of a thank you for this forum (and a warning for newbies). I have had Pogo for three weeks. She ate fine at first and then slowly stopped. Now I feed her with an eyedropper - a mix of carnivore care and baby food squash (which she opens her mouth for and takes with no problem).
She has been shedding - she is almost done with her tail and now I think she is getting ready to shed her head. She was doing a weird beard puff (but not in connection with any sudden change) - she would just puff for a second and the stop, wait a few seconds and puff again, and then stop . . . pretty much randomly throughout the day.
Well, tonight right after she had one of her puff attacks - she did explody eye. I heard about explody eye on these forums so it was not nearly as horrifying as it could have been. It was actually kind of cool. It's freaky that they can bulge their eyes that far out of their head . . . but since I knew that was normal for stretching skin in preparation for shedding, it all made sense (especially with the beard puff stretching thing she has been doing).
She has been to the vet - no parasites, no respiratory infection and everything looked good - so I am going to keep offering the bugs and salads, but feed her with the eyedropper if she won't eat her real food. Hopefully when this shedding is done, she will go back to normal. I can see her looking at those Phoenix worms like she wants them - but then . . . nope.
