So im somewhat of an experienced breeder of beardies. My grandfather raised me doing it as a means of income after retirement. So id say 15 years experience first hand?
So my issue is i just started a breeding project withe the 3 beardies i inherited when my grandfather passed. 1 male and 2 females. Theyre all housed seperately in 50gallon tanks and are in perfect health. Top of the line lights uvb and basking. They eat dubia and assorted greens daily. Calcium daily multi twice a week. Theyre all 2 years old.
When i bring the male into the females room he go crazy instantly. Black beards. Head bobs and stomps. The females both arm wave and one slow head bobs. When i take the female i would like to start with out and put them both in the room he runs to her full speed. Grabs her neck. She waves. Then its over.... He lets go. Male tries again to get her attention sometimes shell respond and hell run over again, but he lets go and nothing happens. I tried with both females. Same results. Ill wait for an hour or two. Then separate them and put them back in their enclosures. Tried every day for a week. Tried waiting a week then reintroducing them. Same thing. Here is a youtube video that shows EXACTLY whats happening.

Everytime in my life that ive tried breeding dragons has been ridiculously easy. I mean within like 15 minutes of putting a pair together. So im not quite sure what the issue could be. Is it because they dont like me watching? Im leaning towards the male just being not the brightest? If thats even possible. One thing i have not tried yet is putting them in the same enclosure for a few day and just monitoring them. I wanted to get some input on that as well. Thank you in advance for all input on this issue.
