Anyone use the Exo-Terra large/low (equivalent to 40gal) tanks that have the front opening doors? The pet store clerk actually shunned us from this kit that comes with that, maybe the right reasons would be it had poor parts to come with it, but that wasn't as she explained it. Merely a matter of cost that the regular tank was just as effective. But if making life easier > cost we might actually lean towards this exo terra tank. Anyone have any experiences with them?

Kits are usually stupid. Save some money and just pick out your own accessories.

I do have two of the 24x18x12 Exo Terra low tanks for my leopard geckos though, and I love them! I got them on sale, and they are definitely worth the extra money. They are much easier to work with, and look great too. And now I will never shut a lid on a tail again, LOL.

I know I'm tempted but if they only have the exo terra with the kit and if the kit stuff is crap then I won't bother.

Wouldn't mind if I could get my hands on this tank though http://toronto.kijiji.ca/c-ViewAd?AdId=399318190&MessageId=MSG.VIEW_AD.REPLY_TO_AD_SENT&backToSearchUrl=http%3A%2F%2Ftoronto.kijiji.ca%2Ff-bearded-dragon-Classifieds-W0QQKeywordZbeardedQ20dragonQQPageZ3&ilIds=399490861%2C399407478%2C399395633%2C399318190%2C399289689%2C399243880%2C399355030%2C399341630%2C399184521%2C399105772%2C399103899%2C399093751%2C399076589%2C399071557%2C366691712%2C398911550%2C398808660%2C398723663%2C398784193%2C382689778&ilNext=4&ilPrev=2&ilProvider=SearchIdListProvider&ilqcCatId=0&ilqcKeyword=bearded+dragon&mpname=R2S&mpname=Activity-R2S&mpuid=1700274%3B115%3B399318190%3B-1216929879%3B%3B&secev=AQAAATjSm3YAAM0AAAACACIxMzhkYWRmN2IxMy5hMjBiMjcyLjUzNzg1LmZmZmNkM2ZjAAAAABfNHK4BAAAAAgAAAAADk4cAybF%2FI0ligKIg4T6%2F4Pa4XzveJ3w*

He says the price is for everything but you can buy it in pieces so odds are I would see how much he wants for without the lights and probably get my own I really want to do the hood fixture with the reptisun 10.0 none of these combo domes.

The last video I watched with someone promoting the combo domes was a 10 yr. old feeding it iceberg lettuce :(

The exo-terra is an ok kit. I work at Petsmart and sometimes if you ask we will switch the UVB. I was going through one of our kits that was labeled 'desert kit' from zoomed and had a repti-sun tropical in it. I got the store manager to unwrap them all and switch the bulbs and we sent in a notice to zoomed about the mix-up. The kit you just put a link up to wouldn't work for a bearded dragon because there isn't enough floor space. You want a tank that it longer than tall or at least 36" length.

Yeah see the first message I sent him was asking its dimensions I wasn't sure since it was just a picture if it was the same length as a standard 40 gallon (36") - just taller. That kit switching idea could be cool. I can't find a proper link anywhere of the actual exo-terra kit I was looking at in the store, I'd like to know its specs before I figure out if its worth my time or not. The only downside will be that the petsmart I went to basically had one kit 40 gallon tank, and one 40 gallon seperate do it yourself tank. Not one tropical, one desert, or for one example one specific zilla deluxe xl bearded dragon kit.

No matter what setup I get I really want the fixture with the repti-sun involved. I saw Jess' diagram setup, the only thing I'm not keen on is doing that walmart fixture stuck on with 3m supplies. I basically just don't trust myself enough in the DIY department. I wouldn't want it to fall because I assembled it improperly.

I don't think there's anything wrong with the exo-terra tank itself, but if it only comes in a kit, then yeah, it's probably a waste of money. Kits OFTEN have completely useless items in them like the wrong fixtures/bulbs, water bowels, SAND, stick-on or dial thermometers.... All stuff you will end up replacing. I know at my local Petsmart, they now have the 36'x18'x18' model available by itself (no accessories) for only $134 with your PetPerks card. I am definitely going to go that route if/when I get another beardie, because I would much prefer the front-opening doors to having to deal with a sliding screen top.

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
Mirage entered brumation yesterday, I'm gonna miss hanging out with my little guy.
