Excited Beardie?!

I just have to share my little story with you, it's so cute.. I had to go in for surgery, so I've been in the hospital for 2days. I said goodbye to Frank on Sunday, and my boyfriend has been taking excellent care of him in my absence. We handle Frank a lot in our house, and encourage him to explore. (Don't worry he's supervised) My boyfriend said while Frank was out of his enclosure the last couple of days he was looking for me. I thought it was sweet of him to cheer me up! Only he says he's not trying to cheer me up. Anyway I arrived home this morning and went straight to see Frank. He was basking ,when he turned his head and noticed it was me, he ran down to the front of the cage and started glass dancing and acting as if he wanted out. I washed my hands and took him out, he licked my hand ran up and down my arm, settled in the palm of my hand, and seemed to nestle in and close his eyes! I couldn't believe it, Frank missed me and was actually excited to see me!
Has this type of reaction ever happened to anyone else? Do lizards really recognize different people?

anyways that sounds sooo freakin cute! i bet he was very excited to have u home! i dont kno if they kno or get excited. but i kno i've had times when i've come home to Ami or been gone for a couple mins or somethin and when i came back to her she like ran up to me n licked me....and the other day my boyfriend n i went to the mall and brought Ami cuz she lovessss goin everywhere with us. couple lil kids ran by makin her a tad darker than usual and she kept tryin to crawl everywhere on her daddy. so i just grabbed her n put her on my shoulder and she instantly got suppper bright and mellow and didnt move at all the rest of the time there. i like to think she associated me with home n feelin safe. which was funny cuz she loves bein with her daddy since he's taller n she can be nosier and see more on his shoulder but guesss this time she just got a lil scared. so i think they can maybe recognize you. im not factually sure tho.

I think they do recognize people! I know when I've let other people handle Grendel, she's tried to get back to me. I'm sure your baby missed you and was happy to see you.

Awe that sounds so sweet! I think they defiantly recognize us. OurJazz had a special bond with my youngest son that he didnt have with any of us. We really could only hold Jazz on his terms but jace could snuggle with him all day long. So yes I think Frank knows ho you are and was excited to see you. Go watch some YouTube vids about beardies....I love seeing how unique they all are and how some respond to their owners.
Btw I hope you feel better soon! In the mean time you can use your recovery time to snuggle with your little guy.

When my hubby was in the hospital in 2005, Digger started acting depressed, so when they finally took the hubby off the ventilator and he was starting to talk he asked for him so I smuggled him into the hospital :lol: WHen I got him in the room, he starting squirming when he saw the hubby, I put him on the bed, he ran up to my hubbys face and licked him and didn;t want to leave! Yes they reconzie us!

I can't wait to have my beardie react in such a way when it sees us! What a lovely story!

I am excited for this almost -dog like- behaviour many beardies seem to have. We can't have a dog where we live so it will be a worthy substitute!

Thank you all for the well wishes. Frank is doing a great job of entertaining me and keeping me company! My boyfriend brought him in the bed to see me, he seemed to love it, but then he pooped all over the comforter! I guess it was Frank's way of telling me it's time to get out of bed! Petey sure recognizes me, I took Petrie ( Petey) out for sun and my niece and her friend came up and Petey hissed and ran up my shoulder and to my neck for comfort..and if I am away..Petey looks for me and once she/he gets a bead on where I am , there's no budgin from that spot! if I'm sitting on the couch watching tv, Petey finds me and sits on her rock and watches with me...wierd hey??? It's major cute tho!!! :lol:
