Ever come across this?

Today I took my little Squirrel to Petco, so she could get some sun and see some of her friends. When we stopped for water on the way home, I noticed she seemed almost to be biting her tongue. Upon closer look, in the corner of her mouth, inside the lips but outside of the teeth, there appears to be a small fleshy mass. Is it a growth or do they have some sort of gland in the corner of their mouths? I normally wouldn't have noticed except it seemed to bother her after she got done drinking.

Any thoughts?

Was it possibly a piece of her mouth shedding? Zander has eaten his "lip" shed before...
