Enclosure

OK I posted in feeding now I have some enclosure questions. to make a long story short we bought two beardies and were told they could be in the same enclosure. Well it was quickly pointed out to me on here that they be separated. So today I went and purchased another enclosure with all the needed items. So currently I have a 29 tank with the dual dome(regular basking and infrared). So here is my first question...I am reading not to use infrared due to sleep interruption so what should we be using for night time warmth. Is a bottom heat liner better or the ceramic heat emitter(I am also having a hard time keeping warm side above 95 degrees)? If we use the ceramic what is needed to power it? I am also using the cage carpet. Is this not a good idea? I have two so that once a week we can completly remove and wash one putting the other in right away. I have the 5.0 reptisun bulb for this enclosure as well.

My second enclosure is a 40 tank 36"L 18"W 16"W. Same set up for cage carpet but I had to use two 50gallon carpets because one was not wide enough. Again is there a better option for the cage liner as I am not real comfortable with the seam and how they overlap. Unfortunately due to bad info from the sales associate I can not move the bigger dragon in to the larger cage. Again long story short she informed me that I could put a 150 watt bulb in the dual dome(Zoo Med). Dun Dun Dun it only can handle up to 100. So I now have to take the dual dome back and get a single. As well as probably purchase an alternate heating source for the larger enclosure. This has become a very pricey venture for me but I want to make sure that Spike and Draco have the best possible space. I had several people tell me that beardies were the best starter reptile and I a finding this hard to believe. Or maybe I just worry too much!!

If anyone could advise me ASAP so that I can go to town tomorrow and get the dome exchanged and get anything else I need while I am there. Thank you so much

Spike and Draco"s mom(aka Dawn) Also how can I post pictures as I am sure that would havew helped to show my set ups!

A cermaic heater bulbs are great because they only put out heat. You can use a regular heat lamp to power the ceramic bulb. I use carpeting. I clean it once a week really good to make sure any poo that got on it comes off.I would trade the 5.0 for a 10.0 The 10.0 puts out more uvb.

You just need to do a lot of research on them. They are by far the most expensive pet I have even owned though. Also you can use tiles on the flooring. I like it. It is easy to clean and is pretty cheap.

Thank you so much! One thing about the ceramic heater can it be used in conjunction with the basking lamp to keep the daytime temp in the correct range? Also for the tiles do you mean ceramic tiles like you would get from the home improvement store? So many questions I can't keep track

Lol it's all good. I have used both at one time before. It will keep your temps up. I use slate tiles from Home Depot. The where like $2 a tile. They are cheap, easy to clean, and keep the nails filed down.

When I used one I used a combo lamp. So it has two fixtures in it. So the basking and ceramic bulb hit the same spot. You can put them next to each other if you have two different fixtures. They are expensive. I found I can raise the temp in my house for cheaper.

Ok so I would go buy a dimmer. They are $10 at Home Depot. You can hit the button to adjust the temps. I love mine.

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
