My beardie used To eat a variety of foods. Salads fruits, worms, roaches, horn worms, crickets. Mostly when he was growing it was like he couldn't get enough. I know he's reached his full maturity but still expect him to eat regularly and poo regularly. He barely eats now. I'm talking like 3 worms and maybe 2 roaches a week. ? He haven't pooped in a while or if he has perhaps he ate it? I smelled something but couldn't find it he also never did that before . There has been very little weight loss and he still seems alert and active and willing to bask... I'm at a loss. I might add that I had 2 unexpected moves from one apartment to another maybe it has contributed stress? When I put food I front of him he looks interested for a minute but then looks away maybe even licks the bowl his food is in! It's very heart breaking and I love my reptiles very much , as soon as I have time he's going to a vet for sure this has been going on for about two weeks now. his vent is clean and all vitals seem good what is this happening !!?? Any clues?? I will upload some photos soon promise

Bearded dragons don't particularly eat their own poop.. heh. How old is he? How long has this been going for? Also considering if you moved, that can also add to it.

If he is alert/active and his weight is remaining pretty stable that's a good sign. Sometimes they just go through phases in which they don't eat much. Especially when they are adults. Just keep providing a nice big salad every day and let him dictate when he needs some food. Keep tracking his weight too. If that drops significantly then a vet visit is certainly in order. Based on what I've seen he may just bounce back on his own and get hungry again soon enough.

It's just worrisome I guess I'm very protective of his health I was flipping out and thought I saw yellow fungus around his beck but he has a lot of yellow coloring here are his most recent pictures taken yesterday and today tell me what you think some are of his neck which I'm paranoid about and theres ones to show his attitude and alertness as Of lately

He just turned 1 yr In February this is fairly recent behavior about the last 2 weeks or so.. leaving options open in gonna pick up some horn worms soon and if that don't work I'm out a ton of food money and he's going to the vet!

He's old enough for brumation now, so that could be it as well.

Thanks for the feed back also the photos- if you don't mind looking at his neck is it his coloration on it that's causing the yellow or does it look bad? I'm so paranoid lol I want him to be so healthy o get really sad when he doesn't eat and panic

That looks like natural yellow coloring and maybe the area is about to shed. YF looks more scabby and wound like than that. I don't see any cause for concern along his neck.

I agree that his behavior might be a phase related to the move which can cause stress + lack of appetite. If it continues, have a fecal test done to rule out a parasite problem.

That color is either his natural tone coming in or else some shed coming on. Some dragons DO have an entirely yellow neck + even belly like my boy in this picture.

I've been offering him fresh salads every day and roaches and worms with no luck ? It sucks because I'm going to move again soon but permanently. I'm hoping he's brumating he's napping a lot more and burrowing still no significant weight loss and very alert with no red flags. I am going to get him to a vet but I still need to get the time off work. Does anyone have any tips or stories about their dragons first brumation? He didn't go through this in the winter probably because he was growing and maturing? I'm trying to not freak out. His cage is 75 gallon glass aquarium, 2x zoomed 100w basking light & zoo med t5 HO 10.0 uvb tube basking temp is 98-102 and I keep his enclosure very maintained. Also can anyone tell me how easily dubia roaches or super worms can harbor parasites or how it can happen? Thank you all

One thing I can tell you for sure is that if he is getting ready for brumation (possible but not likely, but still possible) you definitely do not want him to go into it if he actively has parasites! That will cause an entire plethora of problems for sure, because when he comes out of the brumation, when he needs to start eating and drinking again, he'll be infested with parasites or worms and won't start to eat again and then will have bowel movement issues, and then it's a vicious cycle. So I'd hurry an get him to a certified Reptile vet that has experience doing fecal testing and prescribing antiparasitic meds (make sure you ask when you make the appointment about the vet's experience), and I would not let him go into brumation before you get him tested and treated if need be. I'm hoping it's just relocation stress, he hasn't lost weight so that's good, but I just wanted to give you a head's up. I've seen a few bearded dragons allowed to go into brumation for months with suspected parasites or infections, and when they woke up they had actually lost weight while asleep, and getting a fecal sample was impossible because they hadn't eaten in so long.

We talked to our vet about it possibly being brumation and she suggested turning off the A/C in our bedroom (where he also is) I also realized the 2 basking lights were on opposite ends of his cage resulting in a lower basking temp. So I turned off AC and put his 2 lights together.... much to my happy astonishment he was really hungry today and ate 5 worms and attempted to eat a full sized dubia but he dropped it and lost interest. Anyway I'm so happy!! He has experienced little to no weight loss and today he pigged out on supplemented super worms and has a whole new attitude. I will still take him to get a fecal sample once he poos these out I'll get the sample. Thanks for all the feed back I thought I was regulating his temps better than I really was. What a difference

Please don't make the same mistake that I did. Get him to a vet ASAP!

As I said when he poos I'm taking him to a vet. And what Happened what was your mistake?

We bought our beloved bearded dragon, Spike, one of those fancy (very expensive!), wooden tanks with the light fixtures built in and sliding doors. After a couple of weeks, we noticed that he wasn't doing well. He wouldn't eat nor bask. All he wanted to do was be in his cave. I went online and did some research and concluded that he was getting too much UVB (the tank is not very tall) and that he was suffering from UVB poisoning. Also, this tank had a really bad plastic odor from the lining on the inside being heated up by the basking light. So, we put him back in his 40-gallon glass tank, and he seemed to bounce back. After awhile though, he started acting the same way. Then, we added some new dirt to it. Right after that, he turned black and started to glass surf a lot. I just kept thinking, "Oh, he'll get over it, and he will eat when he gets hungry enough." I did not even think that I should take him to a vet. A few days later, I had to take him and his glass tank to my mom's (an hour away) for her to take care of him while we went on a 10-day vacation. I called a few days later to see how he was doing, and she told me that he had thrown up. I just cringed, because it is never good when a lizard throws up. Once again, I went online to research why a bearded dragon might throw up. The first information that came up was that he probably ate too much. This made sense because we loaded up his worm bowl before we left so that my mom wouldn't have to deal with feeding him worms (she is deathly afraid of them!). So, I thought that he probably got hungry enough and pigged out on worms. A few days later . . . he died! We are devastated!! He was trying to tell me that he was sick, and I completely ignored all of his signs. I will never forgive myself. It is my fault that he died. I still cry every day. I never realized how attached I was to him. He snuggled with me every night and then fell asleep on me. I miss him SO much!!! :-(

I believe that all of these relocations caused him so much stress that it lowered his immune system so much that the parasites living in his guts took over and killed him. I should have taken him to the vet at the first sign of distress way back when he was in that new tank.

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
Mirage entered brumation yesterday, I'm gonna miss hanging out with my little guy.
