I can't find any shelters here online, haven humane does not do touch reptiles at all. :angry5: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:

So if I can't find a shelter all we can do for her right now is take her to haven humane, and they would put her down. :banghead:
This sucks, but rent vs. vet bill so seriously, rescues? Anyone know of any in Redding, CA?

I live in Wisconsin so I don't know any Reptile Shelters in CA, but here in WI you can always try to contact your local zoo some times they will take in reptiles, also any local pet stores should take him (obviously they will sell him to someone else, but at least he will not be put down), or you could also try to post him on craigslist. I hope this helps a little bit and I really hope that you find your beardie a wonderful new home.

The other thing you could try is talking with some of the schools around your area (elementary is the best) and see if they would like to have a classroom pet.

if you have any way to start a train that would make it up north towards OR/WA you might find some one. Try posting in the Rescues section

Star Eco Station here in Los Angeles takes in all sorts of exotics. A while back they took in a whole clutch of baby beardies and now have them up for adoption. Redding is quite a ways but that's the only shelter i know of in CA that takes in exotics.

*Edit

Just found out theres an Eco station in sacramento. You might want to try calling them. If they're anything like the Los Angeles station then they'll take a dragon.

Long story, but a friend really helped us out =)
Yeah, she did have to have it removed. We thought it was only gonna be the black bottom part, but apparently it was eating the inside of her tail much much quicker. I can't say how much was removed (did not see it, heard there was puss gushing, and the smell was awful.) but she has about 1/2 - 3/4 inches left. It's literally a small little nub, (her legs are longer now, it's really odd to see) that she can perk up or down XD Its kinda cute. She is in recovery mode still and getting pampered.
Much rather have no tail and her be alive =)

oo well I am glad she got it amputated. I had an iguana, quite old, that developed tail rot-never knew how it happened- and I think that is what she died from with old age not helping.

How does tail rot happen? whats the cause? any way to prevent?

Tail trama, retained old shed, and dehydration. We think Anore got bit in the store tank by a tank mate, or maybe crickets? (there are almost always loose crickets in the enclosures)
If you want to see what the tail looked like then go see the pics in ER. I am not posting any new ones until she is recovered though.
Send her your wishes!

She is doing vastly better. I feel terrible because she is so young though. She's like, 5-6 weeks. Four inches when we got her.

I just set Swordtail's timer for his bath and paused it so I could actually fill his soaking bowl up and he crawled over my phone and canceled the timer 🤣
Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
