EMERGENCY-cork bark

We have a large cork bark in the viv and I usually throw the crickets in the viv to feed them well in cleaning today we have found a bunch of crickets, can they make a colony in the cork bark since they have food and water in the viv? I have 2 babies and they only eat 2-3 crickets each at a time cuz the crickets hide. We are now feeding them in a separate container. My hubby wants to put the cork back in and I want to either toss it or clean it but don't know how-HELP!

Loose substrates are never good because they can cause health problems, so I'd toss it and switch to carpet/tile/paper towel. If you're absolutely set on the cork bark, definitely feed your baby in a separate container with paper towel on the bottom.

Thanks. We are now. The cork bark is actually a log they love to run all over and in and out of it. I just soaked it in bleach and tons of crickets came out of it-yuck-then I am going to soak it in plain water then bake.

Oh okay, as long as its a log. Yea crickets love to hide in logs, so if suggest that if you wanna feed your beardie in the viv, just remove the log and put it back once you've collected the extra crickets.
