Okay so I like the dubias...they are awesome...whats NOT awesome about them is that they get expensive when you have to buy 250+ every week...and I can't breed them here because my landlord is ...well...stuck in his ways and wont listen. He actually flipped out when I mentioned bearded dragons...I only have two and to be fair he just said no cats and dogs, but I guess the lady that lived here before us ruined it for everyone (he said there were crickets everywhere after she moved out :dontknow: ). So I kinda dropped the subject...but that's also why I will be moving as soon as this lease is up!! lol. Anyway...what would be the best staple insect between dubia, silk worms or phoenix worms?? I've heard different answers just about from every single person. I've tried to do research but its conflicting. So I was just getting everybody's (well that will answer anyway lol) opinion.

Well, you are knocking out the majority of them right there, so your choices are slim. You can try butterworms, reptiworms/calciworms (Which are basically the same as PW's) or crickets.

IF your dragon is over 16 inches you can use superworms too.

okay so if I wasn't eliminating any insects at all what would be the best choice? I don't mind paying if I know I'm getting the best for them...just a pain is all lol.

IMO, best choices would be silkworms, butterworms, and the BSFL varieties.

BSFL - Black Soldier Fly Larva - they are Phoenix/repti/calci worms, it's just these three companies decided to "brand" them with their own name. They are the same thing for the most part, but each company feeds them a different "Special" diet that they say is better than the other guys.

Not sure if I understand your question, but if you're asking best overall it's really hard to answer. It depends on what "best" means to you.

Roaches are best if you're willing to invest the time and money to get them up and running. Once you do, they are the best, hands down. Nice meaty live feeder you can dust and gut-load. Crickets are more commonly accessible and the cheapest in the short run. Silkworms are great, but a pain to get and care for. The same goes for most other worms as well, you can be at the mercy of the postal service.

Variety is key. Maybe the answer is all of the above? I have a roach colony, mix it up with crickets, and throw in worms (superworms mainly) from time to time. I also picked up some adult beardie bites recently and was surprised at how much she loves them!

I would still breed the dubia. The landlord would never know. lol. I have known people to hide them in the closet or under the bed. It just looks like a storage tote if he came in to visit.

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
Mirage entered brumation yesterday, I'm gonna miss hanging out with my little guy.
