Eating hair???

So as I'm typing, our baby is sitting on my shoulder. While browsing through new posts, I heard this noise, look down, and he's eating on my hair. Will it hurt him? I have since moved it so he can't get to it as easily, but will keep it back more if it's totally dangerous for him...

It's not healthy for him, I'll say that much.

I shed like a dog and my poor lizards will sometimes eat hair that has fallen into their feeder bin when they're eating. It really sucks because like a drain pipe the hair can get clogged/congested in their digestive system. They've both had several times in which they had hair coming out with their poop, but half of the strand remained in their tummy. I made the mistake of gently pulling the strand out but was told it's better to leave it alone and let it come out on it's own with their next poop because it may end up tugging on their internals.

All in all, if you can avoid it, please do so.

It can be dangerous, especially if your hair is long as it can get tangled around inside his guts. Try to keep him away from your hair for now on.

Thanks. I definitely will! I am really careful about spotting them in his feeding tub, just never thought about him going to town on it while on my shoulder. I too shed like a dog, but have short hair that will have to be in a headband while he's cuddling with me I guess. Thanks again for your input though, it is appreciated!
