Eating Hair?

Today my 2.5 month old Beardie Griffon decided my hair looked very appealing and tasty. I was shocked! At first I didn't notice seeing as how long my hair is and I had it put up in a bun of sorts while fixing his evening crickets and then tug......Griffon has a free lock of my hair in his mouth!!!! I best hurry up with the crickets! Apparently he is hungry!

Reggie used to do that all the time.... He'd just be sitting on my shoulder and suddenly I'd feel **tugtugtug**. "Reggie, nooo! Get that out of your mouth!"

My 3-1/2 y/o male will eat my hair every time I hold him unless I pull it up on top of my head so he can't grab any loose strands. I don't think he wants to eat it, I think he likes to just chew on it. I play it safe and make sure he can't get any. He has done this since he was a baby.

Just so you know- if you ever see a hair coming out of your dragon's vent, do not pull! I know that's the logical reaction, but they can catch on organs and cause damage. Just clip the hair so it doesn't get caught then it should pass with the next poo. Lilly has sucessfully passed at least one.

Oh yes, they like to taste everything ! I too have long hair, and make quite sure it is secured out of dragon reach, Orion nabbed a lock a few weeks ago and tugged like a champion ! OUCH !

Dexter did it to me a few times. She woul just casually sit with my hair in her mouth as if she was holding me on a leash!

One of my beardies tried to eat my friend's hair one time. It's a good thing my friend was used to beardies by then!

Haha, I let Ruki sit on my friend's shoulder, and he started nibbling on her hair! Gave her quite a shock! :laughing6: I guess it's a beardie thing!

our little bindy did this to me the other day for the first time , we were sitting out at the picinic table where we are staying and a few loose strands were blowing in the breeze and guess it was to tempting for bindy , cause she said hmmmmm . chomp :D

Miss Y used to do that all the time. She'd get this ornery look on her face when I told her "No no, chew chew" that said "I'm going to wait until you forget, then I will go back there and chew again anyway" And she usually did, until I started putting my hair up. Our Princess Rosie (also named Zoom Zoom) did that once. Thankfully she's only done it once, so far.

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
Mirage entered brumation yesterday, I'm gonna miss hanging out with my little guy.
