Hi there....got Timmy about a week ago, he is a juvenile about 6 inches long. We have him on baby beardie food pellets and giving him 2 small crickets a day. He loves the crickets but wont eat pellets. Any ideas? I want to know if i should be feeding him more crickets or hold off so he will eat the pellets????

Timmy is very happy and energetic and poops everyday.

Thanks.

I would defintely feed him more crickets and feed the pellets to the crickets. babies need a lot of protein and pellets are better as a salad topper, they don't have enough protein that babies need to facilitate rapid growth

in my experience a lot of bearded dragons just stick their noses up at the pellets and they have little to no interest whatsoever.

I agree with the above and definitely pad them out on a lot more crickets, these are their main diet at this stage and they will happily trail through packs of them. Allowing them twice a day to feed on as much as they want in 5-10 mins, you'll find they pick up their appetite.

Not only with the pellets but a lot of the time (even though it should always be provided and that they will likely nibble at them from time to time) that juveniles are barely interested in their salad, some can be worse than a 3 year old eating their sprouts! They are just more inclined towards live food.

I just set Swordtail's timer for his bath and paused it so I could actually fill his soaking bowl up and he crawled over my phone and canceled the timer 🤣
Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
